Fear of missing out (FOMO) is a significant burden for many young individuals today.

During my seven years in medical school, I always wondered why the Ethiopian professional medical culture is the way it is. The teaching and learning process seems to be designed to make you live in fear, training you to keep your head down and preventing you from thinking outside the box. It confines your career development to a single path and makes you a slave to your salary and status rather than allowing you to pursue your dreams.

I have longed for the day when I can make an impact and change this outdated professional culture.

I believe the system should enable young physicians to be disciplined, innovative, and aspiring leaders, rather than simply accepting the status quo. That's why I have joined in co-founding MAC-ETHIOPIA in order to turn this dream into a reality.

6 years ago, at the Health Library of JU, the idea for the Medicos Art Club (MAC) was born. Initially, it was a single person's ambition to make this concept national. With unwavering determination, I 've seen this dream become a reality.

I am honored to be chosen as the board director for MAC Ethiopia. Before its official establishment, MAC had been serving the medical community for over 6 years. Its humble beginnings and community-focused programs have allowed it to thrive.

MAC Ethiopia is poised to become a movement, bringing the medical community together in an artistic and approachable manner. Artistic talent is far from a mere hobby for physicians. It fosters a unique skill set that enhances observation, communication, and problem - solving. All vital for excellent patient care.

It's a reminder that the best doctors are not just scientists, but also well-rounded individuals with diverse talents that contribute to their success.

Medicine at times is frustrating and demanding so using art in medicine helps to ease its difficulty for doctors. It also helps physicians to explain their/our problem and make our questions more understandable by non-medicos.
