The victim first invested in a charity project recommended by a close friend. Then a “fake friend” appeared, invited them into a private chat full of supposed high-profile investors, and offered a “unique chance” to join a private token presale from a major exchange. The atmosphere was electric—limited time, enthusiastic comments, everyone seemingly in.
Shaken with excitement, the victim sent $1.25M. Soon it became clear the chat, the names, and the presale were all fake. The real friend was shocked, and the scammers vanished.
