The state treasury is allowed to allocate up to 5% of government reserves into digital assets with a market capitalization exceeding $500 billion — currently, only Bitcoin meets this criterion.

The law will take effect in 60 days.

🇺🇸 Arizona has officially signed a bill to create a state cryptocurrency reserve — it will be funded using unclaimed assets.

There is also a proposal under consideration to include confiscated cryptocurrency in the reserve.

Previously, the governor vetoed a bill that would have allowed state treasurers and pension systems to invest up to 10% of their funds in cryptocurrencies.

🇧🇴 Bolivia is preparing to launch a digital currency called the “virtual boliviano” to simplify international payments and preserve foreign currency reserves.

The head of the Central Bank stated that the project is being developed with support from international organizations and will be presented on August 6, the country’s bicentennial Independence Day.

Previously, Bolivia had banned the use of banks for purchasing cryptocurrencies, but after lifting the restrictions, transaction volumes doubled. The country has also started using stablecoins as a substitute for the dollar amid a foreign currency shortage.
