Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta’s hopes of a move away this summer are in doubt after he sustained a hamstring injury.

Mateta will miss Palace’s first home game of the season on Friday night against Manchester City after picking up the injury during training and he is expected to be out for around four weeks, according to sources briefed on the problem who speak anonymously as they were not authorised to do so publicly.

Crystal Palace’s move for Joel Ordonez is in serious doubt due to an injury sustained by the Club Brugge centre-back.

Palace were closing in on a deal for Ordonez after making an offer of a loan with a conditional obligation to buy for a fee in the region of €30million (£25m), though there is now a pessimism on both sides regarding the proposed transfer.

German club RB Leipzig are close to reaching an agreement in principle with Chelsea for the transfer of striker Marc Guiu.

Everton are working on a loan deal to bring Manchester City’s Jack Grealish back to Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The clubs are in talks over a deal after Grealish, 30, spent last season on loan at Everton.
