Aston Villa are closing in on a full agreement to sign Matteo Ruggeri from Atletico Madrid.

The clubs had broadly agreed a deal for the 24-year-old earlier in the week in the region of €20million (£17.1m; $23.1m), and Ruggeri is advancing in personal terms with Villa.

Manchester City have agreed a €2m deal with Marseille to sign goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli.

City have identified the 34-year-old as a replacement for James Trafford, who signed for Leeds in a move worth up to £45m earlier this week.

West Ham United have reached an agreement in principle to sign winger Manor Solomon from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Athletic reported that talks between the clubs were on hold for financial reasons, with West Ham not willing to agree to the bonuses Spurs were asking for if West Ham were to achieve promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

However, the two teams have now reached an agreement in principle on a deal for the Israel international that includes a £5million transfer fee plus £2m in potential add-ons.

The deal would also include a 10 per cent sell-on clause.

Barcelona captain Ronald Araujo is due to fly to Liverpool on Sunday to complete a move to the Premier League club.

The 27-year-old Uruguay international centre-back is expected to join on a season-long loan deal that also includes Liverpool having a €55million option to buy him.

Everton are in talks to sign Brennan Johnson from Crystal Palace in a deal that could see Dwight McNeil move to Selhurst Park.

Johnson, 25, only joined Palace from Tottenham Hotspur in January, while McNeil, 26, has been at Everton since the summer of 2022.

McNeil was close to a move to Palace in the winter transfer window, before the transfer fell through due to the relevant paperwork not being completed on time.

Crystal Palace are finalizing the signing of American winger Zavier Gozo from Real Salt Lake.

Sources said Gozo was in London on Monday to undergo a medical with Palace and complete the paperwork for his move.
