FIFA and Gianni Infantino have performed a U-turn on his plot to sell a stake in its commercial and event operations after widespread condemnation of the plans.

In a statement, Infantino said: “Having listened carefully to all the views, it has become clear that the project has created divisions of a nature that, regardless of the level of support, are no longer in the interest of the objective set out in the first place."

Yan Diomande will not travel with RB Leipzig to the club’s pre-season training camp in Austria as the club continues to negotiate with Real Madrid over his transfer.

The Athletic reported last week Madrid were expected to reach an agreement with the German club for the 19-year-old winger, following Paris Saint-Germain’s withdrawal from negotiations.

Mamadou Sangare has just become Brentford's record signing, and according to those who have worked with him, he could be a Premier League star in the making.

The Mali international has signed a five-year deal at the west London club, with a club option for a further year.

Brentford confirm the fee exceeded the total package of £37million ($49.2m; €43.2m at current rates) plus £5m in add-ons they paid Bournemouth for Dango Ouattara last year.

Two who seemed less perturbed: Saudi Aramco, Qatar Airways, who both declined to comment when asked if they had concerns on Friday.

Juventus have completed the signing of Kerim Alajbegovic from Bayer Leverkusen on a five-year contract through to 2031.

The 18-year-old winger rejoined Leverkusen this summer after the Bundesliga club activated a buy-back clause in the deal which saw him sign for Red Bull Salzburg last summer.

Alajbegovic enjoyed a breakout season at the Austrian club, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists, while becoming a regular at international level for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Chelsea have completed the signing of Valentin Barco from sister club Strasbourg on a seven-year contract.

The 22-year-old Argentina international, who previously made six Premier League appearances for Brighton, has been signed following the exit of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid earlier this summer.

Barco was involved in an altercation with Jude Bellingham following Argentina's 2-1 World Cup semi-final victory over England last month.

Juventus have re-signed Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain in a permanent deal worth up to worth €50m.

The Italian side confirmed that the deal is an upfront fee of €38m (£32.4m; 43.8m) with a further €15.2m (£12.9m; $17.5m) in potential add-ons.

He has signed a five-year deal that will see him contracted to the club until 2031.

Kolo Muani had a disappointing season-long loan spell with Tottenham Hotspur last season, scoring just once in 30 Premier League matches.

UEFA has threatened FIFA with legal action over its failed plans to sell stakes in the World Cup and other tournaments to private investors.

European football’s governing body has written to FIFA, stating it is considering legal action, arbitration and/or regulatory complaints in connection with the proposals, and has demanded all documents related to the plans not be destroyed.

Newcastle United have completed the signing of Braga goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek.

As previously reported by The Athletic, the fee for Hornicek is €30million (£25.7m; $34.5m), the value of his release clause, and the 24-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the Premier League club.

Newcastle sporting director Ross Wilson believes the club has signed “one of Europe’s top young goalkeepers”.

The English Football Association (FA) is set to write to Gianni Infantino to withdraw its support for him to be re-elected as FIFA president.

This comes after the FA issued a statement on Saturday endorsing the view of UEFA that it had lost confidence in Infantino’s leadership after he attempted to sell a 21 per cent stake in FIFA’s commercial and event operations to Joshua Kushner’s investment fund for $4.2billion (£3.1bn).

“It is time for a full and robust review of FIFA’s leadership and governance to ensure that the global game is run transparently, for the benefit of all 211 member nations and with the long term stewardship of football at its heart,” the FA’s statement read.

Jordan Henderson has completed his move to Chelsea after Brentford mutually agreed to terminate his deal.

The 36-year-old midfielder left Brentford on Wednesday after an agreement had been reached to end his contract halfway through his two-year deal.

The midfielder also said he was “impressed” by the attitude of Chelsea’s ownership.

Club Brugge are close to completing the signing of West Ham United midfielder Freddie Potts.

Potts, 22, made 26 first team appearances last season, including 12 starts in the Premier League.

His minutes during the second half of the campaign were more limited, however, and he featured just once from the bench during West Ham’s final five top-flight matches as the club were relegated to the Championship.

Fulham have completed the signing of striker Gonzalo Garcia from Real Madrid.

The Athletic reported on July 30 that Fulham had agreed deals to sign Garcia and Cesar Palacios for a combined fee of €50m (£42.9m; $57.4m) from Madrid.

The proposals value Garcia at €40m and Palacios at €10m, and include a 30 per cent sell-on clause for each player.

Fulham confirmed the arrival of Garcia, 22, on Monday on a five-year deal through to 2031, with the option of a further 12 months.
