Newcastle United have agreed a deal worth up to €40million (£34.1m) with Monaco for midfielder Aladji Bamba.

The 20-year-old is already on Tyneside, having been given permission by the Ligue 1 club to fly to England to complete a medical.

Barcelona have completed the signing of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund.

Barcelona confirmed Adeyemi’s arrival on Thursday on a five-year deal through to 2031.

The 24-year-old forward leaves Dortmund a year before his contract was due to expire.

The New England Revolution is closing in on a deal to sign English winger Jack Harrison from Leeds United, sources briefed on the deal tell The Athletic.

Harrison will join the Revs as a designated player, sources add.

Harrison, 29, spent the second half of last season on loan in Serie A with Fiorentina where he provided one goal and three assists.

Pep Guardiola has declined the opportunity to take the Italy national team head coach role.

The Italian Football Federation’s (FICG) technical director Paolo Maldini and the head of the federation Giovanni Malago confirmed this week that the FICG had held talks with Guardiola over the possibility of succeeding Gennaro Gattuso, who left the position in April after Italy’s failure to qualify for the World Cup.

Mark van Bommel has been appointed new Belgium head coach to replace the departed Rudi Garcia.

The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona midfielder will take charge on August 15 and lead the team through the 2028 European Championship, a Belgium statement read on Friday.

Austin MacPhee will leave his role as Aston Villa’s set-piece coach after five years at the Midlands club.

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha has an agreement in place to join Colo-Colo, the Chilean club’s president has said.

Vozinha had been a free agent since leaving Portuguese second division side Chaves, where he spent two seasons, at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Colo-Colo’s president Anibal Mosa told local media on Friday, ahead of his side’s domestic league match against Deportes Limache: “We can confirm Vozinha will be a Colo-Colo player.

“We have an agreement; the final details are being ironed out, but we already have confirmation from his entourage and his representative. We reached an agreement based on a proposal that we submitted.”
