value add vs value extract mindset, & why the first is better for YOU
value extract mindset revolves around in any relationship, group chat, or trade, you solely focus on extracting value. while purely trading wise short term this might seem like the best opp cost, long term is extremely -EV.
ex:
- you shill a token in your fav group chat but own 20% supply, and proceed to dump. short term, quick profits, however long term, your burning a bridge that may allow you to make 100x those gains in the future
- you surround yourself with traders and solely focus on extracting as much from them as possible. this is not a mutually beneficial relationship. you might learn a thing or two, but without providing value yourself, you will never get close to the gates of the alpha sphere, and it’s obvious
where as value add mindset contributes to infinite asymmetric upside you simply cannot comprehend.
ex:
- maybe you dive deep into a thesis, share your research, and ask the opinions of friends. not only are you showing your skills, your actively showing people you really do this, and this leads to opportunities and upside you simply cannot expect
- helping DD tokens other share instead of simply extracting info is extremely +EV, because it’s impossible for a single person to conquer the entire chain themselves. there are too many tokens, too many chains, etc. some of the “best” traders in the space are not alone. while
maybe they have sole control of there wallet, every play has multiple people, and maybe multiple chats helping DD and make quick decisions
- value add mentality will allow you to surround yourself with other value add people, creating this environment allowing for pure confluence. i have friends who have made me gen wealth, and i’ve made frens gen wealth. this is the environment you want to seek for yourself
the main difference is i truly hope & believe all my frens will make it, even if it be before me
everyone’s paths to wealth are not linear, or on the same exponential curve, but they all do lead up and to the right. comparison is the thief of joy, everyone is on there own journey. but if you ever find your envy leading you down a value extract mentality rabbithole, correct yourself before that mentality corrects you, to zero

the best of the best are able to balance:
- pure raw ego they are the best, and they truly believe it
- understand at certain times and certain trades require teamwork to max extract value, so being able to drop this ego in times when needed for teamwork is extremely +EV. they are not blinded by the sun and fly to close like Icarus
- risk management restrictions so even if they lose a battle, they won’t lose the war
