β‘οΈ$8 Billion US Navy Warship Heads for East Asia
The most advanced surface warship in the US Navy has arrived in the western Pacific after joining the USβ largest destroyer squadron outside the States in Japan Monday.
The US Naval Institute reported last month that the Zumwalt will be upgraded next year to accommodate Common Hypersonic Glide Body Missiles which can reach Mach 5 speeds.
The 610ft (185m) USS Zumwalt displaces 16,000 metric tons, is armed with 80 vertical missile launch cells that can target land, sea and underwater targets, and boasts a stealth capacity to evade most radar.
