⚠️JUST IN: Upbit’s CEO has issued a public apology after the recent $36M exploit.

He says all user losses will be fully covered and that Upbit is now adding additional security measures to prevent future incidents.

This is the second time the exchange has been exploited the previous hacker stole $60M in ETH.

The criminals who stole $186M through social engineering paid two officers $59K, $7.5K and luxury goods to unfreeze crypto accounts, leak case info, and connect them with law enforcement members.

🔴JUST IN: A bitcoin investor who’d been growing their portfolio for 390 days has been drained for 2.6 WBTC ($235k)

They consistently deposited between $5k and $120k each month and never withdrew. During a swap, they fell victim to a phishing site that drained the entire balance.

The yETH pool was hit through a carefully crafted exploit which self destructed right after the attack. The stolen $3M was instantly deposited into Tornado Cash.

The attacker also burned 2k ETH ( $5.7M ) to crash the token price, keeping the remaining 1052 ETH for himself.

The hacker moved ~1K ETH ( $3M ) into Tornado Cash to clean the stolen funds, while the remaining ~$6M in stolen assets still sit untouched in the wallet.

⚠️JUST IN: Europol seized illegal crypto mixing service "Cryptomixer" and 294 BTC ($25M)

Authorities seized three servers and the FBI confiscated $25M in Bitcoin, as well as taking the entire database and downloading over 12TB of data containing every transaction ever made through the mixer.

⚠️JUST IN: A teenager in LA was robbed of $350k in crypto after 6 kidnappers posed as LAPD and raided his luxury Airbnb.

The victim and his girlfriend were handcuffed and held hostage until he complied and opened a safe holding his Trezor, which the attackers used to send the $350k to themselves.

⚠️JUST IN: Head of security for Pudgy Penguins released an article on how to avoid being robbed IRL for your crypto.

He noted that many victims of IRL robberies are those who keep their seed phrase and Trezor/Ledger at home, which motivates attackers. Instead, he recommends storing them in a secure location far from home.

⚠️BREAKING: Russian crypto investor was found dead in the UAE after reportedly failing to pay a $375M ransom during a kidnapping attempt.
