It appears Monkie has been running low 4-figure scams by claiming connections with well-known figures in COM. Sources say he often pretends to be associated with wealthy users to build trust only to flip for a quick payout.

It started with Monkie reaching out to known fraudsters, asking for their dirty ETH and promising to pay back 30% more than whatever they sent.

At first, it was small around $500. But as trust built and the amounts grew, he ended up pulling the classic exit move.

They later tried to spin it by saying the dev was planning to “exit scam,” but the transfer was manually approved so it looks like it was intentional from the start.
