A report by the Washington-based Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS):
Recent Vantor satellite imagery from October 2026 documenting the second reconstruction effort at the Taleghan 2 facility, which is linked to Iran’s nuclear program, shows that work is advancing rapidly.
The facility was first bombed by Israel in October 2024. Although Iran subsequently expanded and fortified it, Israel later struck it again with bunker-busting bombs and destroyed additional structures surrounding the site.
Since March 2026, Iran has repaired the covering above the facility and recently added three concrete pads directly over the penetration holes, possibly intended to serve as access points or ventilation shafts. Whatever their purpose, the related construction work was concealed in September using temporary coverings.
Additional work included reinforcing the structure with two stepped concrete sidewalls and completing a new protected entrance passage that was damaged in the latest strike. This reflects an intensive Iranian effort to restore the facility, although it remains unclear when it could become operational.
The report notes that Iran’s decision to rebuild a well-known facility whose characteristics are already thoroughly understood raises questions. At the very least, however, it indicates that Iran intends to restore the capabilities it lost at the site.
