בית המשפט המחוזי בתל אביב הרשיע את מרוואן ברגותי בשנת 2004 בחמישה מעשי רצח במסגרת שלושה פיגועים קטלניים, בניסיון רצח, בחברות ובפעילות בארגון טרור ובקשירת קשר לביצוע פשע. נגזרו עליו חמישה מאסרי עולם מצטברים ועוד 40 שנות מאסר. בית המשפט לא הרשיע אותו ברוב הפיגועים האחרים שנכללו בכתב האישום בשל היעדר ראיות מספקות לקשר משפטי ישיר.

1. רצח הנזיר היווני גאורגיוס ציבוקצאקיס
ב־12 ביוני 2001 נורה למוות האב גאורגיוס ציבוקצאקיס, נזיר יווני־אורתודוקסי, בעת שנסע באזור מעלה אדומים. בית המשפט הרשיע את ברגותי באישור ובארגון הרצח.

2. הפיגוע בתחנת הדלק בגבעת זאב
ב־15 בינואר 2002 נרצחה יואלה חן, בת 45 ואם לשניים, בפיגוע ירי בתחנת דלק סמוך לגבעת זאב. בפסק הדין נקבע שהפיגוע בוצע בהוראתו הישירה של ברגותי כפעולת נקם.

3. הפיגוע במסעדת “סי פוד מרקט” בתל אביב
ב־5 במרץ 2002 ירה המחבל איברהים חוסיין לעבר סועדים במסעדה, השליך רימונים ודקר אנשים. בפיגוע נרצחו:
רס״ר סלים ברכאת, בן 33, שוטר דרוזי מירכא שהסתער על המחבל.
יוסף הבי, בן 52 מהרצליה.
אלי דהן, בן 53 מלוד.
עוד כ־30 בני אדם נפצעו. בית המשפט קבע שברגותי אישר את ביצוע הפיגוע.

The Tel Aviv District Court convicted Marwan Barghouti in 2004 of five murders in three deadly attacks, attempted murder, membership and activity in a terrorist organization, and conspiracy to commit a crime. He was sentenced to five cumulative life sentences and an additional 40 years in prison. The court did not convict him of most of the other attacks included in the indictment due to the lack of sufficient evidence of a direct legal connection.

1. The murder of the Greek monk Georgios Tsiboktsakis
On June 12, 2001, Father Georgios Tsiboktsakis, a Greek Orthodox monk, was shot dead while driving in the Ma'ale Adumim area. The court convicted Barghouti of authorizing and organizing the murder.

2. The attack at the gas station in Givat Ze'ev
On January 15, 2002, Yoela Chen, a 45-year-old mother of two, was murdered in a shooting attack at a gas station near Givat Ze'ev. The verdict determined that the attack was carried out on Barghouti's direct orders as an act of revenge.

3. The attack at the “Sea Food Market” restaurant in Tel Aviv
On March 5, 2002, the terrorist Ibrahim Hussein shot at diners in the restaurant, threw grenades, and stabbed people. The following were killed in the attack:
Sergeant Salim Barkat, 33, a Druze policeman from Mirka who attacked the terrorist.
Yousef Al-Habi, 52, from Herzliya.
Eli Dahan, 53, from Lod.
About 30 more people were injured. The court ruled that Barghouti approved the attack.
