אסמאעיל קאאני, מפקד כוח קודס של משמרות המהפכה, מינה מפקד חדש ליחידת החיסולים של הארגון בחו"ל ושינה את שמה ל"יחידה 600", לאחר שזהות אנשיה והמבנה הארגוני שלה נחשפו. על פי הדיווח, קאאני, מינה לאחרונה את מוג'תבא חק-לסאן למפקד היחידה, שנודעה בעבר בשם "יחידה 840". חק-לסאן, בן 64, עמד בעבר בראש מחלקת המודיעין של היחידה. הוא החליף את חאג' אסע'ר באקרי, שנהרג בתקיפה ישראלית ב-6 באפריל. עוד דווח כי היחידה פעלה ללא מפקד מאז הריגתו של מיר. היחידה נקשרה לתוכניות התנקשות במתנגדי המשטר האיראני, בעיתונאים, בבכירים אמריקנים לשעבר ובמטרות ישראליות בחו"ל.

Esmail Qaani, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force, has appointed a new commander to the organization’s overseas assassination unit and renamed it “Unit 600” after the identities of its personnel and its organizational structure were exposed.
According to the report, Qaani recently appointed Mojtaba Hagh-Lesan to command the unit, previously known as “Unit 840.” Hagh-Lesan, 64, formerly headed the unit’s intelligence department.
He replaced Yazdan Mir, also known as Haj Asghar Bagheri, who was killed in an Israeli strike on April 6. The unit had reportedly operated without a commander since Mir’s death.
The unit has been linked to assassination plots targeting opponents of the Iranian regime, journalists, former senior US officials and Israeli targets abroad.
