Russia secretly assisted Iran in developing hypersonic missile technology as part of a classified program that began in 2023.

According to reports, Russian specialists in missile technology advised Iran on the use of ramjet engines, which could allow missiles to fly several times faster than the speed of sound, posing a threat to U.S. warships and other assets.

Iran has reportedly developed and tested this system, although there is no evidence that the missile developed with Russian assistance has been put into service.
