ישראל החלה לקבל איתותים ופניות ממתווכים שונים המנסים להבטיח את יציאתם של עשרות לוחמי חיזבאללה הלכודים במנהרות מתחת לרכס עלי טאהר.
עד כה, תגובת ישראל לכל המתווכים הייתה חד משמעית: "כניעה היא האפשרות היחידה, אחרת המחבלים ימצאו את מותם במנהרות.

כלי תקשורת בצרפת מדווחים כי מבקש מקלט אפגני בן 19 המתגורר באירופה נידון למאסר לאחר שהורשע באונס של חמש עיזים וטלה בן שישה חודשים (הטלה מת בעקבות האונס) בחוות מקלט לבעלי חיים וחווה חינוכית בצרפת.

הנאשם, המזוהה רק בשם מסעוד ס', טען בבית המשפט כי הוא "אדם נורמלי".

הוא אף אמר לפסיכולוג שמונה על ידי בית המשפט כי אנס את העיזים ואת הטלה כדי למנוע אונס של אישה, משום שלדבריו "עז לא יכולה לזהות אותו לאחר מכן" (כמה מתחשב מצדו-א"ע).

French media report that a 19-year-old Afghan asylum seeker living in Europe has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of raping five goats and a six-month-old lamb. The lamb died as a result of the assault at an animal sanctuary and educational farm in France.
The defendant, identified only as Massoud S., claimed in court that he was “a normal person.”
He also reportedly told a court-appointed psychologist that he raped the goats and the lamb in order to avoid raping a woman, because, in his words, “a goat cannot identify him afterward.” How considerate of him.
He was convicted and sentenced to 30 months in prison, and was also banned from remaining in France, following his actions at the animal sanctuary and educational farm “Le Refuge d’un Moment” in Les Pennes-Mirabeau, near Marseille.
Cassandra Sortino, the owner of the farm, said she remains deeply traumatized by what was done to her animals.
The case began in February, when she noticed tying marks on the legs of several animals. A veterinarian later found injuries to their genitals as well as traces of blood.
Following the findings, Sortino installed a security camera, which recorded a man entering the farm and raping animals. She stayed in contact with the police, and in April the Afghan suspect was arrested.
At the time of his arrest, police found him in the act of raping a goat, wearing latex gloves and with his trousers pulled down.
The asylum seeker, born in Afghanistan, denied all charges during his trial at the Aix-en-Provence court on June 22, despite being caught by police in the act, behind one of the goats, wearing latex gloves.

Following the United Arab Emirates, Iraq is now also considering leaving OPEC. A senior official at Iraq's Oil Ministry told Reuters that Iraq "will have to consider all available options if its OPEC oil production quota is not substantially increased."
Additional sources said that leaving the organization had already been discussed, but for now Iraq has decided to remain in OPEC while pushing for a significantly higher production quota.
An Iraqi source said Baghdad is facing a severe economic crisis following the war with Iran and the damage to its oil export capacity. Iraqi officials now believe that a substantial increase in the country's OPEC production quota is essential.
