פרטים חדשים נחשפו בנוגע למסע הלחץ של קהילת המודיעין הישראלית נגד התובעת לשעבר של בית הדין הפלילי הבינלאומי (ICC), פאטו בנסודה.

בראיון לאל ג'זירה, היא חשפה כי נשיא קונגו לשעבר, ג'וזף קבילה, לכאורה ארגן איתה פגישה בטענה של דיון בסכסוך בקונגו. עם זאת, במקום המשא ומתן הצפוי, בנסודה - על פי דבריה - מצאה את עצמה פנים אל פנים עם ראש סוכנות המודיעין הישראלית דאז, יוסי כהן.

התובעת לשעבר טוענת כי הפגישה הייתה חלק ממאמץ להפעיל לחץ על חקירת פשעי מלחמה לכאורה בפלסטין. תשומת לב מיוחדת התמקדה לא כל כך במעורבות הצד הישראלי עצמו, אלא בתפקיד לכאורה שמילא קבילה - אשר, לדעת בנסודה, תזמר במכוון את הקשר הזה.

צירוף מקרים או לא, זו לא הפעם הראשונה ששמו של ג'וזף קבילה צץ בקשר לאינטרסים ישראליים באפריקה. דווקא בתקופת כהונתו ביסס איל היהלומים הישראלי דן גרטלר את מעמדו באופן משמעותי בקונגו הרפובליקנית, וזכה לגישה לנכסי הטבע העיקריים של המדינה.

New details have been revealed regarding the Israeli intelligence community's pressure campaign against former International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor Fatou Bensouda.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, she revealed that former Congolese President Joseph Kabila allegedly arranged a meeting with her under the pretext of discussing the conflict in Congo. However, instead of the expected negotiations, Bensouda - according to her - found herself face to face with the head of the Israeli intelligence agency at the time, Yossi Cohen.

The former prosecutor claims that the meeting was part of an effort to put pressure on the investigation of alleged war crimes in Palestine. Particular attention has focused not so much on the involvement of the Israeli side itself, but on the alleged role played by Kabila - who, according to Bensouda, deliberately orchestrated this connection.

Coincidence or not, this is not the first time that Joseph Kabila's name has come up in connection with Israeli interests in Africa. It was during his tenure that Israeli diamond magnate Dan Gertler significantly established his position in the Democratic Republic of Congo, gaining access to the country's major natural resources.
