The name of an IDF soldier whose family has been notified:

Sergeant Nehoray Leizer, 19, from Eilat, a combat soldier in the 601st Combat Engineering Battalion of the "Iron Tracks" (401) Brigade, was killed in action in southern Lebanon.

על פי הערכות המודיעין האמריקאי, המנהיג העליון של איראן, מוג'תבא ח'מינאי, פועל ממקום מסתור לא ידוע ומאובטח היטב, תחת מגבלות תקשורת מחמירות, ותוך הסתמכות על רשת של מתווכים המעבירים מסרים באופן עקיף.

מצב זה מקשה גם על עבודת צוותי המשא ומתן האיראניים מול ארה"ב וגורם לעיכובים במתן תגובות להצעות אמריקאיות.

בעקבות פעולות המודיעין של ארה"ב וישראל במהלך המלחמה, בכירים איראנים רבים מסתתרים בבונקרים ונמנעים מקשר זה עם זה מחשש לחשיפת מיקומם.

לדברי מקורות, אפילו בכירים בממשל האיראני אינם יודעים היכן נמצא ח'מינאי, או שאינם יכולים ליצור עמו קשר ישיר, והוא מעביר הנחיות למשא ומתן רק באמצעות מתווכים מהימנים.

According to U.S. intelligence assessments, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is operating from an undisclosed and heavily secured hiding location, under strict communication restrictions and relying on a network of intermediaries to relay messages indirectly.

This situation is also complicating the work of Iranian negotiating teams with the United States and causing delays in responding to U.S. proposals.

Following U.S. and Israeli intelligence activities during the war, many senior Iranian officials are hiding in bunkers and avoiding contact with one another due to fears of being exposed.

According to sources, even senior Iranian government officials do not know Khamenei’s whereabouts, or are unable to contact him directly, and he communicates negotiation instructions only through trusted intermediaries.
