החברה הביטחונית-ממשלתית תומר, שמייצרת מנועים לטילי החץ, השביט, אשר על פי מקורות זרים מבוסס על טילי יריחו הבליסטיים שיכולים לשאת ראשי נפץ גרעיניים ביצעה ניסוי ליד בית שמש שגרם לפיצוץ רב עוצמה.

לפי החברה מדובר בניסוי מתוכן מראש בוצע לפי התכנון.

ב-20 באפריל 2021 תועד ניסוי של חברת תומר במנוע של טיל שיצר פטריית אש ועשן גדולה. כתוצאה מהפיצוץ ומהתיעודים שהופצו, חוקרים בחו"ל שניתחו צילומי לוויין של אזור הניסוי טענו כי הפיצוץ חשף בטעות את מיקומו של בסיס המסויים של החברה ליד בית שמש
חוקרים ומומחים בינלאומיים לטילים (כמו צוות החוקרים של מרכז ג'יימס מרטין למחקרי אי-הפצה) ניתחו את התיעודים ואת צילומי הלוויין, וקבעו באופן חד-משמעי כי התלקחות האש, עוצמתה ואורך זמן הבעירה תואמים לחלוטין ניסוי של מנוע טיל מבוסס דלק מוצק, כנראה לסדרת טילי היריחו

The government-owned defense company Tomer, which manufactures engines for the Arrow and Shavit missiles, the latter being based on Jericho ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads according to foreign sources, conducted a test near Beit Shemesh that resulted in a massive explosion.

According to the company, this was a pre-planned test that was ״executed as scheduled״.

On April 20, 2021, a test by the Tomer company on a missile engine was documented, creating a large mushroom cloud of fire and smoke. As a result of the explosion and the circulating footage, foreign researchers who analyzed satellite imagery of the test area claimed that the blast accidentally exposed the location of a specific company base near Beit Shemesh.

International missile researchers and experts (such as the research team at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies) analyzed the documentation and satellite images, and unequivocally determined that the ignition, its intensity, and the burn duration were completely consistent with a test of a solid-fuel missile engine, likely for the Jericho missile series.

In my estimation, the test did not go as planned.

Compared to the video of the 2021 test, the current test did not go as planned, in a "successful" test the fire should not burn for hours.
