A French journalist named Florian Tardif claims in a new book that the reason Brigitte Macron slapped the president upon their landing in Vietnam in May 2025 was
the president's relationship with Iranian-French actress Golshifteh Farhani.
In an interview today on Radio France, Tardif said that:
Brigitte was furious with Emmanuel after discovering messages between him and Farhani that indicated a "platonic relationship," and among other things, the president wrote to her that she was "very beautiful."
He also said that:
the presidential couple had a long fight on that flight, and there was a misunderstanding by the flight crew who thought the fight was over and then opened the door, but that's exactly when she slapped him.
