https://www.wikihow.com/Reflect-on-Your-Life

What I lately found that the best way to write a personal statement is tirelessly reflecting on your life. By writing hundreds of reflection essays about your life, you can eventually unite them into one perfect 600/650 word essay after so much editing. (Btw, it is not my own words, I learnt it by reading the messages from some previous successful applicants' channels)

I wish I had much time for writing many personal statements and chose one or unite them into one perfect one, but I started writing it too late. Still, ig it is much better to master smth, though somewhat late, than just regretting about not doing it all the time.

In this site I shared here, you can learn how to reflect on your life effectively. Found it so useful:)

Peace!

When I woke up this morning, the first thing I saw was this page. Although I decided not to send it at first, I still shared.

Even though I was impassionately waiting for an acceptance letter, I am still happy because getting waitlisted is much better than getting a straight rejection letter for me. Because when I get rejected, that means I am much weaker than other candidates or inqualified for the admission. But being waitlisted is mainly because the campus size is small, and the university wants to choose extra students with good potential among those who are waitlisted.

Grinnell college, which has an admission rate of about 10%, is among a few colleges which are need-blind, which means that If I get accepted, they will give me a full ride scholarship. Even though there is a less hope of getting accepted-about only 7-8% of waitlisted students are admitted since it is a very competitive college- I will try to do my best. I have to show/tell that this university is still my top choice by emailing them ig

What to do if you are waitlisted? 🧐

❓❓❓

Y'all probably are waiting for the admission decisions to come out. You are hopefully waiting to get acceptance letters or unfortunately rejections. But there is another possibillty - you may get waitlisted.

Why some colleges may put you on their wait list?
- This is mainly because you met the admission requirements, but the college has already accepted the number of applicants it has room for.

When can I know the decision?
- You may be offered a place or get rejected until after May 1, for this is the time when many admitted applicants may decide to attend another college, and the spots will become available for waitlisted students.

What I should I do when I get waitlisted?
- First, decide if this college is your top school. Then on your applicant portal, you will have an option to reply "Yes" or "No" to remain on the wait list.

Then, some colleges require the LOCI
- "Letter of Continued Interest". In this letter you should mention that this college is your top priority and inform some changes regarding your academic and personal life: that may be, you won a competition, you did volunteering projects, or probably your grades have improved.

However

There is one caviat:
You will get to know whether you are accepted or not until after May 1 (or in the worst case scenario until June).

Well until that time, you will have to choose another university and make a deposit, because you cannot be sure on your acceptance from the waiting list.

In that case, if you will be accepted from the wait list and want to attend this college, you will pay another deposit to this uni. The unfortunate side is you cannot get back your first deposit, since deposits are non-refundable πŸ—Ώ.

That wraps up this post.

Hope you got some insights about the wait list. πŸ™‚

This is a second waitlist I have so far, and I believe, this college is far better than previous one(which waitlisted me) in terms of reputation and business/economics studies. In fact, it ranked 1st when it comes to business program, beating all ivy leagues. And although it considers my financial situation as part of my application, I may win full ride scholarship by meeting the financial requirements with CSS profile.

But the situation with this college is really interesting and different compared to other one(Grinnell). When I woke up today early, I was waiting for a straight rejection from it because Babson already deferred me from Early Action to Regular decision(in December 15) and asked additional letter of interest to show that it is my top priority college. I did so(wrote a letter) just a day before the deadline(Feb 15) and thought Babson already lost interest in me. But instead of rejecting/accepting after a deferral, they waitlisted me and are asking another letter of interest. So interesting😹
