This is "Titanium Anodizing". It's a dye-free process which uses electricity and oxygen to increase the layer of oxide on the metal part. Different colors correspond with different applied voltages. The process is creating titanium oxide in varying thicknesses which creates varying colors.

Do cats even… like synthesizers?
Oftentimes, you’ll find cats next to items that provide a tactile experience. Like many musical instruments, synthesizers produce vibrations. As for music itself, according to a study found in Applied Animal Behavior Science, cats do enjoy “species-specific music” - which includes purrs, etc. The University of Wisconsin tested 47 different domestic cats by playing researcher-turned-musician David Teie’s cat-targeted songs compared with two human songs: Bach’s “Air on a G String” and Gabriel Fauré’s “Elegie.”
The researchers found that the cats showed a “significant preference for and interest in” the cat-appropriate music, compared to the two human songs, to which they did not respond at all.
