A Bench of Chief Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice K. Vinod Chandran relied on the 2019 precedent Ritesh Sinha v. State of Uttar Pradesh & Anr., which held that even in the absence of an explicit provision in the Cr.P.C., a Judicial Magistrate has the authority to direct a βpersonβ to provide a voice sample for investigation.
