The Fed will begin to cut rates more aggressively than markets currently expect, since a moderate recession in the US will occur in the 1st half of 2024.
We expect the first rate cut by 50 bps at the Fed meeting in June 2024. And then another -125 bp until the end of the year. (total: - 175 bp)
We forecast two quarters of negative US GDP in the 1st half of 2024.
The unemployment rate will rise to 4.6% by the middle of next year from the current 3.9%.
The weakness of the economy will reduce inflation in the United States.
