⚠️ Oracle error left DeFi lender Moonwell with $1.8 million in debt
Moonwell experienced a malfunction: a misconfigured oracle priced Coinbase Wrapped ETH (cbETH) at around $1 instead of its market value of roughly $2,200. This triggered mass liquidations and wiped out borrower collateral.
💳 Liquidators were able to repay about $1 of debt and seize cbETH collateral — a total of 1,096 cbETH was taken. As a result, the protocol was left with $1.78 million in bad debt.
Moonwell has already reduced cbETH borrowing and deposit limits to nearly zero and is preparing a fix through governance. The incident once again highlighted how critical oracle reliability is for DeFi.

Arizona’s Senate Finance Committee approved bill SB1649 (4–2), which proposes the creation of a Digital Assets Strategic Reserve Fund. The legislation explicitly includes XRP among the digital assets eligible to be held in the state reserve.
💼 The bill would authorize the state treasurer to hold, invest, and provide custody for digital assets, including those seized or surrendered to the state. It also allows the use of regulated ETFs and advanced custody solutions.
