US announced the inflation figures:
⚫ CPI: 3.5% YoY, 0.4% MoM
⚫ Forecasted CPI: 3.2% YoY, 0.4% MoM
The CPI in March was the highest since September 2023. Swaps markets showed that the likelihood of the Fed cutting interest rates in June declined.
Fed policymakers have been anticipating for some time now that housing cost pressures would diminish, allowing for core inflation to slow. But that has not materialized with the new data.
