💰A new analysis from Glassnode data on Bitcoin supply shows that most of the current supply is held by old whales (OG Whales).

⭐️These whales are individuals who accumulated the majority of their holdings back in 2011, shown in orange and yellow colors on the chart.

⭐️They bought Bitcoin at extremely low prices, around $10 or even less, and now every Bitcoin they sell requires over $110,000 of new capital entering the market to be absorbed.

⭐️Why has Bitcoin’s growth slowed? Mainly due to selling pressure from old whales. Since they have been around since Bitcoin’s early days and bought at nearly zero cost, even a small portion of their sales brings them massive profits. Their selling forces the market to attract huge amounts of fresh capital for the price to move up.

💰Every Bitcoin sold by these whales equals the need for large-scale new capital. For example, if they sell 1,000 BTC, the market must absorb it with more than $110 million in new inflows.

📊The darker colors (orange) represent the large and old whales. As we can see, since the very early years (2010–2011), a massive share of the supply has been in their hands, and they still have a significant impact today.
