Nida Dar took to social media to announce her return to professional cricket, once again making her available for selection for Pakistan Women. This comes after the all-rounder took a year-long break from cricket after first making her international debut back in 2010.
Dar took time away from the sport in early 2025 to focus on her mental well-being due to situations in her personal and professional life. ESPNcricinfo also reported that the then 38-year-old was not part of Pakistan's immediate plans and would likely not have featured for the Women in Green regardless.
Despite the setbacks, Dar is willing to return to international cricket and stated that she will strive hard to put her name back into the selection hat. She last played a professional game during the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup game against eventual champions New Zealand, with Maddy Green being her final international wicket.
"After taking time to focus on myself and regain my strength, I am happy to share that I am back and available for Pakistan Cricket Team once again. Ready to give my best, work hard and contribute whenever the team needs me. Thank you to everyone who supported me during this journey," Nida Dar said on X (formerly Twitter).

Dar, now 39, remains one of the greatest players to represent the Pakistan Women 's side across formats. She was the first cricketer from the country, male or female, to reach 100 wickets in T20I cricket. With 144 wickets to her name in the shortest format of the game, the right-arm spinner is her side's leading wicket-taker, more than 50 scalps ahead of any active player. An all-rounder by true sense, the right-handed batter also scored 2,091 in T20I cricket, at a strike-rate of 101.35.
Despite her outstanding record for Pakistan, it looks highly unlikely that Dar would make a comeback into the national setup. However, it is a credit to her perseverance and determination that she is willing to grind back into selection reckoning at the age of 39.

Without an iota of doubt, Rohit Sharma is among the greatest openers of limited-overs cricket in the modern-day generation, with close to 20,000 runs in ODIs and T20Is combined. He will be eyeing another milestone on Saturday, June 20, when he steps out to bat against Afghanistan in the third ODI of the ongoing series at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Rohit has been a consistent performer for the Indian team over the years, but the series has been slightly underwhelming for the legendary batter, as he has failed to convert his starts into big scores. With the cricketer being under immense scrutiny ahead of the 2027 World Cup, each match and each series for him are going to be as significant as any.
However, his record in Chennai, especially in the one-day internationals, is something that indicates worrying signs for the batter. The experienced campaigner has scored truckloads of runs all around the world, but when it comes to Chennai, the record isn't indicative of how big a player Rohit Sharma is.
In seven outings with the bat at Chepauk, Rohit has managed only 140 runs at a subpar average of 20.00, while his strike rate of 76.92 sounds very contradictory. He does not even have a single fifty-plus individual score at the venue, having played here since his first in 2010, which is quite surprising. His highest score at the iconic venue is 36, which came against the West Indies back in 2019.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) transfer market is already beginning to generate buzz ahead of the 2027 season, with two major Indian stars reportedly on the move. As reported by the Times of India, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is likely to make a return to Delhi Capitals (DC), while left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav is expected to join Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Pant’s potential homecoming to Delhi comes after a difficult two-year stint with Lucknow. The explosive batter became the most expensive player in IPL history when LSG secured his services for INR 27 crore ahead of the 2025 auction. However, things did not go according to plan for either Pant or the franchise.
The southpaw endured underwhelming campaigns with the bat, scoring 269 runs in IPL 2025 before managing 312 runs in the 2026 edition. Lucknow also struggled collectively, finishing seventh in 2025 and ending at the bottom of the table in the recently concluded season. Following the disappointing campaign, Pant stepped down from the captaincy role.
Reports suggest that Pant himself initiated discussions regarding his exit, with the franchise agreeing to his request. While a return to Delhi Capitals appears increasingly likely, it remains unclear whether the 29-year-old will immediately reclaim the captaincy role. The franchise is reportedly evaluating its leadership options, with KL Rahul emerging as a strong contender for the position.
Kuldeep Yadav likely to swap Delhi for Lucknow
Meanwhile, another significant development could see Kuldeep Yadav leave Delhi Capitals after a successful five-year association. The spinner was retained by DC for INR 13.25 crore ahead of IPL 2025 and has been one of the franchise’s most reliable performers since joining in 2022.
Kuldeep played a key role in reviving his white-ball career during his time with Delhi and consistently delivered impactful performances. His standout season came in 2022, when he picked up 21 wickets in just 14 matches. He followed that campaign with wicket tallies of 10, 16, 15, and 10 in the subsequent editions, establishing himself as one of the league’s premier spin bowlers.
Lucknow Super Giants are now reportedly keen to bring the experienced spinner into their setup as part of a larger squad overhaul ahead of IPL 2027. With Pant expected to move in the opposite direction, the two franchises could be set for one of the biggest transfer stories in IPL history.

📢'They should have given him a royal send-off' - Kris Srikkanth on Virat Kohli's Test retirement
'They should have given him a royal send-off' - Kris Srikkanth on Virat Kohli's Test retirement (Photo Source: Virat Kohli/Instagram)
Former Indian captain Kris Srikkanth believes that India should have given Virat Kohli a grand farewell prior to his retirement from Test cricket.
The talismanic Kohli retired from the format ahead of the 2025 series in England. He has scored 9,230 runs in 123 Tests at an average of 46.85 with 30 centuries. He is often considered one of the finest batters in the game and is credited with revolutionising India's fortunes in the longest format. Srikkanth stated that Kohli should have played in the series in England, which India eventually drew 2-2.
“I think Virat Kohli should have played the Test series in England, in my opinion. He is a different level. It is not about age. He’s got the passion, aggression; he’s simply amazing. In 20-20 cricket, he is amazing, in IPL as well. Against England, in that series, Virat should have gone, frankly speaking. I think they should have given him a royal send-off. For someone who has done so much for Indian cricket, they should have given him a royal send-off in Test cricket. Unfortunately, it did not happen,” Srikkanth said in an interview with the press.
Srikkanth expressed his opposition towards the BCCI's decision to retire Kohli prematurely. He stated that Kohli, like other cricketing greats, such as Sachin Tendulkar, should have received the leeway to call time on his own. He also opined that Kohli is one of the greatest captains India has ever produced, despite not having lifted a single ICC trophy.
“You should let him alone. Let Virat decide what to do. Like what Sachin did. He is King of Kings. He himself would know what to do, what not to do. He is a very balanced guy. I like his commitment to the game and he is a big team man. He’s been one of the best captains India has produced, especially in Test cricket. But it’s just that he’s not been lucky that he could not win an ICC trophy. But otherwise, in my opinion, he has been one of the best captains India has produced,” he stated.
'He should play the 2027 World Cup' - Srikkanth on Rohit Sharma
Srikkanth further stated that Rohit Sharma should be part of the Indian team till the 2027 Cricket World Cup, and is still one of the best ODI cricketers. Rohit, who also retired from Test cricket alongside Kohli, has been a regular feature in the ODI side. He has scored 11,641 runs at an average of 48.70, with 33 centuries, which also includes three double-centuries.
“Rohit, yes in Test cricket he retired, it was fine. I think it was right. 20-20 they all retired together, which is probably their own decision. In one-day cricket, I still believe Rohit Sharma is one of the best one-day cricketers and ODI openers. I think if he is scoring runs and fit enough, then why not? He should play the 2027 World Cup,” he said.

📢'We will be making a few changes' - Ryan ten Doeschate confirms changes to XI ahead of India vs Afghanistan 3rd ODI
Ryan ten Doeschate. (Photo Source: ACC/YouTube)
Former Netherlands international and India's Assistant Coach, Ryan ten Doeschate, has spoken about the composition of the side ahead of the third One Day International (ODI) against Afghanistan at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday, June 20. The Men in Blue have already secured the three-match series by winning the first two matches in Dharamshala and Lucknow.
Ten Doeschate stated that the main purpose of this series was to try new combinations and thus make necessary changes to the playing XI to give other players a run in. These include resting regular players like Arshdeep Singh and replacing him with someone like Harshit Rana, who was added to the squad at the eleventh hour.
"We will be making a few changes from the first two games. Part of the brief coming into the series was that we wanted to try a few different combinations and give everyone a fair share of games. So someone like Arshdeep [Singh], who has bowled really well in the first two games, he can probably take a rest tomorrow, and one of the batters will also miss out tomorrow and we will go back to playing one of the new spinners," Ryan ten Doeschate said in the pre-match press conference.
Ten Doeschate also stated that the team will most likely have two all-rounders, in Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar. However, the top three that played in the second ODI in Lucknow should remain the same, which means Yashasvi Jaiswal will get a second opportunity up the order along with Rohit Sharma.
The versatility of this batting lineup is fantastic, but no, I don't think KL [Rahul] will bat at number three tomorrow. We want to have a good look at Yashasvi [Jaiswal] as well. Obviously, he didn't runs in the last game, so he will probably get another go. Maybe with the combination, we need to look at Nitish [Kumar Reddy] again. Unfortunately, he couldn't play the last game but he needs to start in as well so I would imagine five batters, plus Nitish and Washi [Washington Sundar], that means obviously no space for one of the batters and certainly no changes in the top three from the last game," he added.
