The Malwa Stallions have endured a disappointing campaign and currently sit at the bottom of the points table with just one win from eight matches. With seven defeats to their name, the Stallions have struggled to find consistency throughout the tournament.

Rewa Jaguars, on the other hand, have been one of the standout teams of the competition. They are currently third in the standings, having won five of their seven matches. How did the Final go between Sri Lanka A and India A? — Review, Turning Points & more

India A defeated Sri Lanka A by 66 runs to win the tri-series final at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Sunday, June 21.

Sri Lankan captain Sahan Arachchige won the toss and opted to field first on Sunday. However, the move backfired as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Priyansh Arya got the visitors off to a flying start. The former was the wrecker-in-chief as he slammed an 11-ball half-century. Sooryavanshi was eventually dismissed for 94 after facing 29 balls.

Priyansh Arya and Ruturaj Gaikwad got starts but couldn't convert them into substantial scores. Tilak Varma scored a sedate half-century, as he made 67 off 90 balls. Kumar Kushagra and Vipraj Nigam also chipped in with handy contributions, but it seemed like Sri Lanka would restrict India to a total below 350.

However, Anukul Roy hit three sixes in the final over to help India A finish on 377/9 in 50 overs. The southpaw smashed 39 off just 15 balls.

In reply, Sri Lanka A lost the wicket of Avishka Fernando in the third over. Niroshan Dickwella and Nuwanidu Fernando wasted their starts. However, Sadeera Samarawickrama scored an enterprising half-century. Skipper Arachchige scored 38 off 40 balls, but he was dismissed by his opposite number in the 26th over as Sri Lanka A were struggling at 177/6.

Wanuja Sahan and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth stitched a defiant 77-run stand to give hope of a miraculous comeback. However, once they were dismissed for 62 and 39, respectively, it was only a matter of time before India A's win.

Top batting performance of the match - Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played one of the finest knocks in 50-over cricket on Sunday. He smashed a half-century off just 11 balls and the projected score climbed to 900 at one point. During his exemplary innings, Sooryavanshi hit 10 fours and eight sixes.

Yash Thakur bowled brilliantly on a flat surface. He bent his back and picked up crucial wickets for India A. During his seven-over spell, the 27-year-old conceded 45 runs and dismissed the top three batters in Sri Lanka's batting order.

Records Broken and Major Milestones Achieved

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi broke the record for the fastest half-century in List A cricket, getting to the milestone in just 11 balls.

Who won the Player of the Match?

It was a no-brainer. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was awarded Player of the Match for his scintillating knock that rattled Sri Lanka.

📢Ish Sodhi picks all-time T20 XI, ignores MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya [Exclusive]

Ish Sodhi

New Zealand's veteran leg-spinner Ish Sodhi recently picked his all-time T20 XI during an exclusive interaction with CricTracker. Sodhi has played 21 Tests, 54 ODIs, and 142 T20Is so far for the Black Caps. He is also an experienced campaigner when it comes to T20 cricket.

The 33-year-old has played 314 T20s, picked up 335 wickets at an average of 24.89 and a strike rate of 18.70. Despite being a wrist spinner, his economy rate is a decent 7.95. During his impressive career, Sodhi has played with and against some of the biggest players in the shortest format of the game.

He picked Chris Gayle and Rohit Sharma as his openers in the T20 format. The former is second on the list of leading run-getters in T20 cricket. Rohit, on the other hand, led India to the T20 World Cup title in 2024 and is also a five-time IPL-winning skipper. He also has the most runs by an Indian cricketer in T20I cricket.

Good friends, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli , took the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, respectively, in Sodhi's line-up. De Villiers is a former South African captain and a Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) legend. Meanwhile, Kohli needs no introduction as he is the highest run-getter in the IPL and second highest for India in T20Is.

Kieron Pollard, who recently surpassed Gayle's record to become the leading run-getter in T20 cricket, grabbed the No. 5 spot. The 39-year-old might have retired from international cricket, but he is firing on all cylinders in franchise leagues around the world.

Jos Buttler and Andre Russell were picked for the finisher's role at No. 6 and 7, respectively. While Buttler has the second-most centuries in the IPL, Russell is a two-time IPL Most Valuable Player (MVP) award winner.

In the spin-bowling department, there were no surprises whatsoever. Sodhi picked mystery spinner Sunil Narine at No. 8 and the talismanic leg-spinner Rashid khan at No. 9. Both of them have made batters dance to their tunes in international cricket as well as in franchise leagues.

Lastly, Sodhi picked Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood as his two frontline pacers. Bumrah won the Player of the Tournament award when India won the 2024 T20 World Cup under Rohit's captaincy. The former is also a multiple-time IPL winner. Josh Hazlewood, on the other hand, played crucial roles in the IPL in the last two seasons, as he helped the Royal Challengers Bengaluru become back-to-back champions.

Ish Sodhi's All-time T20 XI:

Chris Gayle, Rohit Sharma, AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli, Kieron Pollard, Jos Buttler, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Rashid Khan Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood.

Former India captain Mithali Raj shared her views on India's middle-order concerns and the possibility of including Renuka Singh Thakur in the upcoming matches. According to Mithali, the frequent loss of wickets in the middle overs has increased the pressure on Richa Ghosh, who has often been left to stabilise the innings and finish games.

Mithali also explained why Renuka was left out of India's clash against Pakistan. She felt that the team management opted against selecting the pacer because she was not fully in rhythm. However, Mithali believes Renuka remains a strong option and could return to the playing XI if conditions favour seam bowling.

"When we look at India's batting unit, especially the middle order, we've been losing a couple of wickets in quick succession, which puts a lot of pressure on the incoming batters. We haven't seen the kind of partnerships we'd expect from the No. 3, 4 and 5 batters, and that leaves a lot for Richa Ghosh to do when she comes in,” said Mithali on JioStar.

“She has done that role brilliantly, but even a 30-run partnership in the middle overs would give her a much better platform to launch from. As for Renuka, if India chose not to play her against Pakistan, it could indicate that the support staff feel she isn't quite in the rhythm they want for this World Cup. That said, if the pitch offers pace and bounce, like we saw in Leeds, there's no harm in going with three seamers,” she added.

Raj praised Jemimah Rodrigues for her improved mindset and approach, noting that the batter looked far more composed during India's second game of the tournament. Mithali highlighted Jemimah's maturity at the crease and felt her calmness played a key role in the innings. She also lauded Richa, calling her India's trump card. Mithali emphasised that having a power-hitter like Richa is essential in the format.

"Jemimah's form improved from the first game to the second, especially in terms of her mindset and approach. I felt she looked a bit hurried in the first game against Pakistan, but appeared much more composed in the second. There are always nerves in the opening game of a World Cup, regardless of how many international matches a player has played,” said Mithali.

“Hopefully, those nerves are settled now and she can get back to the run-scoring form we have come to expect from her. As for India's trump card, it has to be Richa Ghosh. We saw her score a quickfire 34 in the first game, which helped India get to that 170-run mark. In this format, when you need a power-hitter in the last four or five overs, Richa can be the difference for India. Those extra 30-40 runs she can add at the back end of an innings will be crucial,” she added.

Raj expressed hope that Smriti Mandhana will go on to break the record she is chasing, while praising the opener's consistency and longevity at the highest level. Mithali highlighted how both Mandhana and Deepti Sharma have carried their rich vein of form into the World Cup, playing crucial roles for the team.

"I don't know when she will break that record, but I am certain she will. The good thing is that Indian players' records are being broken by their compatriots, which means the record remains with India. That reflects the consistency and longevity of players like Smriti and Deepti. I hope both continue their fine form because their experience will be vital for India in this T20 World Cup and at the same time, they continue to inspire the younger players and help them grow alongside them, both on and off the field,” Mithali concluded.

Former India captain Mithali Raj believes Shreyanka Patil's injury will be a significant setback, both for the player personally and from the team's perspective. Shreyanka suffered a right ankle injury during India's match against Netherlands Women after twisting her ankle while chasing the ball.

Mithali noted that missing a major global tournament would be difficult for Shreyanka and expressed sympathy for the young all-rounder. She also backed Radha Yadav as the ideal replacement, citing her experience and ability to strengthen the team's spin-bowling department in Shreyanka's absence.

"Shreyanka's injury will definitely be a setback because the support staff would have had strategies and tactics in place for this World Cup, keeping her in mind. She, too, would have been looking forward to the tournament, especially after working her way back from an injury,” said Mithali on JioStar.

“It is tough for any player to get injured and then miss out on a global event like the World Cup. As far as the Indian team is concerned, they will now have to go to Plan B or Plan C. They do have Radha Yadav in their ranks, and India's strength has traditionally been its spin attack. Radha did reasonably well in the ODI World Cup and is already part of the squad. If India need a third spinner as an immediate replacement, she could step into Shreyanka's role,” she added.

Mithali believes Australia Women and India Women are the favorites to qualify from Group A for the semi-finals. From Group B, she expects England Women to progress comfortably. Mithali also admitted that she has little hope of New Zealand Women reaching the knockout stage after their two defeats in the tournament. Instead, she backed West Indies Women to join England as the second semi-finalist from Group B.

"Since Australia and India have already won two games each, and South Africa have lost to Australia, India have a better chance to qualify even though they are yet to face South Africa. I expect Australia and India to get into the knockouts from Group A. From the other group, England look the most likely team to qualify, having started strongly with two wins from two games,” said Mithali.

“The second team is a bit difficult to predict because a few teams are still in contention. West Indies, Sri Lanka and New Zealand are all in the mix, although New Zealand's chances have gone down with two defeats already. If I had to pick one, I would go with the West Indies,” she added.

Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson have been included in England's squad for the third and final Test against New Zealand after the conclusion of the England and Wales Cricket Board's (ECB) disciplinary hearing into their conduct during the early hours of June 8, following the Lord's Test. The pair had previously been omitted from the squad for the second Test at The Oval, which England lost under the captaincy of Joe Root.

Stokes and Atkinson were found guilty of breaching the team curfew. British media reports later revealed that Atkinson was involved in an incident at a nightclub shortly after the Lord's Test. Further details indicated that a rugby academy player attempted to punch Atkinson but instead struck a security staff member, who required stitches.

As a result, the ECB launched an investigation into the matter, leading to the duo's exclusion from the squad for the Oval Test. The investigation has now concluded and determined that Stokes was not present at the nightclub when the incident involving Atkinson took place.

“Stokes and Atkinson were found to have breached specific contractual obligations that require England players to at all times maintain the highest standards of conduct and act in the best interests of England cricket,” the ECB said in an official statement.

“It was also concluded that no blame should be attached to the players for violent conduct at the nightclub. Stokes was not involved in the altercation and did not witness either incident. The evidence the ECB has seen demonstrates that Atkinson was the victim of unprovoked attacks and did not retaliate on either occasion,” the statement added.

While England were taking on New Zealand in the second Test at The Oval, Stokes turned out for Durham in a County Championship fixture. The three-match series is currently level at 1-1 after New Zealand secured a commanding 253-run victory in the second Test on Sunday, setting up a decisive final match.

England's squad for third Test:

Ben Stokes (C), Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Shoaib Bashir, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Jordan Cox, Ben Duckett, Matthew Fisher, Emilio Gay, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Josh Tongue
