IPL 2027: Top 3 trade rumours making headlines
While the next Indian Premier League season begins in 2027 and we have only reached the middle of 2026, trade rumours have dominated cricket circles in recent weeks, much to the intrigue of the fans.
📢Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashes fastest List A half-century

There is a famous saying in cricket: "Let the bat do the talking." And that is exactly what India's batting prodigy, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi , did against Sri Lanka A in the final of the Tri-Nation A Series 2026.

After finding himself at the centre of attention following a heated altercation during an earlier meeting between the two sides, the teenage sensation responded in the best possible manner. After being invited to bat first in this crucial encounter, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi just dismantled the Lankan bowling line-up single-handedly with a breathtaking display of power-hitting as he smashed a fastest-ever half-century in List-A cricket.

Opening the batting with Priyansh Arya, the 15-year-old sensation was in full flow, scoring boundaries at will. During the fourth over of India A’s innings, Vaibhav smashed a thumping six over long-on to complete his half century in just 11 balls, reaching the landmark at a strike rate of 454.55.

He broke the long-standing record of Sri Lankan batter Kaushalya Weeraratne, who had completed his half century in 12 balls in 2005. Vaibhav did not stop there, as he continued his assault on the Sri Lanka A bowlers, smashing 94 runs in just 29 balls before getting dismissed by Sahan Arachchige in the ninth over. His innings included 10 fours and eight staggering sixes.

Vaibhav had a golden chance to create yet another world record in List A cricket, of becoming the joint-fastest centurion in the format. That record is currently held by Jake Fraser-McGurk , who reached the milestone in just 29 balls for South Australia against Tasmania in 2023. Opener Priyansh Arya too, played a handy knock of 39 runs in 29 balls.

📢Joe Root goes past 14000 Test runs, nears Sachin Tendulkar's elite record

Joe Root (source:Gettyimages)

England batting legend Joe Root etched his name deeper into the history books after becoming just the second batter in Test cricket history to score 14,000 runs in the longest format of the game.

The landmark was achieved on June 20, 2026, during the second Test between England and New Zealand at The Oval. Leading the side as stand-in captain, Root required only two runs at the start of England's second innings and reached the milestone with a single off New Zealand pacer Matt Henry in the seventh over.

With the achievement, Root joined legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar as the only players to cross the 14,000-run mark in Test cricket. Notably, the cricketing world had waited 16 years for another batter to reach the milestone after Tendulkar became the first player to do so during a Test match against Australia in Bengaluru in 2010.

While Tendulkar reached the landmark in his 279th Test innings, Root took 302 innings to get there. However, the England batter achieved the feat in his 165th Test appearance, continuing his remarkable consistency in the format over the last decade.

Root's journey to 14,000 Test runs has been built on longevity, adaptability, and an insatiable appetite for runs. Since making his Test debut against India in 2012, the right-hander has established himself as one of the finest batters of his generation and a modern-day great of red-ball cricket.

The Yorkshire batter has amassed his runs at an impressive average of over 50, while also registering 41 centuries and 66 half-centuries in Test cricket. His ability to deliver across different conditions and against varied opposition has played a crucial role in England 's success over the years.

New Zealand near famous victory

Meanwhile, the BlackCaps are on the verge of a famous victory at The Oval against the hosts. On what could be a fascinating day of Test cricket, the hosts need 281 runs to clinch the victory, whereas New Zealand need to pick up five wickets on the final day of the riveting encounter.
📢IPL 2027: Top 3 trade rumours making headlines

While the next Indian Premier League (IPL) season begins in 2027 and we have only reached the middle of 2026, trade rumours have dominated cricket circles in recent weeks, much to the intrigue of the fans.

There are quite a few big names that could be switching franchises ahead of the mini-auction, which is expected to be held later this year. Last year, Sanju Samson shifted base from the Rajasthan Royals to the Chennai Super Kings in exchange for Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja. This year, we could see multiple high-profile trades.

IPL 2027: Top 3 trade rumours making headlines

3. Suryakumar Yadav to KKR

Suryakumar Yadav (Source: BCCI)

The Kolkata Knight Riders have had two forgettable seasons under captain Ajinkya Rahane. They finished eighth last year and seventh this year. The Knights are reportedly looking for an overhaul and a new captain to steer the ship out of tumultuous times. There have been rumours about Suryakumar Yadav returning to the Knight Riders, a franchise where he was the vice-captain at one point.

The right-handed batter has been dropped from the Indian T20I side, despite leading the team to the T20 World Cup title earlier this year. If Suryakumar joins KKR, he is expected to be given captaincy duties, and he will be eager to give the selectors a headache.

2. Hardik Pandya to RR, Yashasvi Jaiswal to MI

Hardik Panyda x Yashasvi Jaiswal (Source: BCCI)

This speculation has set the rumour mill ablaze. Some reports suggested that Hardik Pandya is set to part ways with the Mumbai Indians. The Rajasthan Royals are reportedly leading the race to acquire the services of the Baroda all-rounder. However, they will have to let go of Yashasvi Jaiswal as part of the trade.

Interestingly, if this trade goes through, MI would have roped in a former RR vice-captain at the expense of their own skipper. Yashasvi and Rohit Sharma opening the batting will strengthen MI batting considerably, with Ryan Rickelton also in the mix.

1. Rishabh Pant to DC, Kuldeep Yadav to LSG

Rishabh Pant x Kuldeep Yadav (Source: BCCI)

The trade between Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav is reportedly the closest to completion. After two abysmal seasons at the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Pant is rumoured to be ready to take a pay cut. He was roped in by the Super Giants for a record-breaking INR 27 crore and appointed captain. However, he could join his former franchise, Delhi Capitals (DC), for INR 15 crore.

Kuldeep Yadav, on the other hand, is reportedly going to continue on his 13.25 crore salary, but he could be donning the LSG jersey. The left-arm wrist spinner wasn't in great form in IPL 2026. However, bowling at DC's home ground - Arun Jaitley Stadium - isn't easy as the boundaries are short. Kuldeep will enjoy bowling at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium, where the pitches favour the spinners and the boundaries are also quite big. The veteran spinner will also know the conditions like the back of his hand, as it is his home ground in domestic cricket.

Texas Super Kings (TEX) lock horns with MI New York (NY) in match No. 7 of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Monday, June 22.

Faf du Plessis' Texas Super Kings started their campaign with a comfortable six-wicket win against Seattle Orcas, chasing down a 221-run target with nine balls to spare. The Men in Yellow, however, failed to back up that performance, as they lost to the San Francisco Unicorns in their second game. The Unicorns chased down a 153-run target with seven wickets and 13 balls left to play.

MI New York, on the other hand, has played only one game so far. The defending champions lost to the Washington Freedom by 30 runs after being restricted to 215/6 while chasing an improbable 246-run target in Dallas.

The pitch at the Grand Prairie Stadium has been exemplary for batting. Bowlers haven't had much of a say at the high-scoring venue. The average first-innings score in the four full 20-over matches was around 209. Even in the rain-curtailed clash between Los Angeles Knight Riders and San Francisco Unicorns, both teams scored at run-rates of over 10. Kieron Pollard surpasses Chris Gayle to become leading run-getter in T20 cricket

Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard added another glorious chapter to his illustrious T20 career by becoming the highest run-scorer in the history of the shortest format. The veteran all-rounder surpassed fellow Caribbean legend Chris Gayle during MI New York’s Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 encounter against Washington Freedom.

Pollard achieved the landmark while producing a magnificent century for the New York-based franchise. The hard-hitting finisher crossed Gayle’s tally of 14,562 runs and moved to the top of the all-time T20 run-scoring charts with 14,582 runs at the end of his innings. The knock of 100 not-out also marked only the second T20 century of the Trinidad-born's career.

The 39-year-old’s achievement further highlights his remarkable longevity and consistency in 20-over cricket. The batting all-rounder is already the only player in the history of the game to feature in more than 700 T20 matches and has now played 736 games across various leagues and tournaments played globally.

Despite Pollard’s record-breaking knock, New York ended up on the losing side as Washington registered a convincing 30-run victory in a high-scoring contest. Batting first, Washington posted a massive 245/5 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was headlined by a sensational 155 off just 68 deliveries from Mitchell Owen, who dominated the New York bowling attack with a breathtaking display of power-hitting.

In response, MI New York suffered an early collapse as Quinton de Kock , Nicholas Pooran and Monank Patel departed cheaply, leaving the team struggling at 34/3. Pollard then launched a counterattack and kept his side’s hopes alive with a brilliant unbeaten 100 off 56 balls, but it wasn't enough as his team eventually fell short of the target at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas.

During the course of his innings, he overtook Gayle to become the leading run-scorer in T20 cricket history. MI New York eventually finished on 215/6, falling 30 runs short of Washington Freedom’s total.

India decimated Afghanistan and whitewashed them 3-0 in the recently-concluded three-match ODI series at home. Several youngsters got opportunities during the series, as experienced campaigners were either injured or rested.

Gurnoor Brar, Harsh Dubey, Ishan Kishan, and Yashasvi Jaiswal are a few young guns that managed to make a mark. Captain Shubman Gill and veteran batter Rohit Sharma were also among the runs, and Prasidh Krishna took an impressive five-for in the third ODI. After inflicting the comprehensive whitewash, India will now focus on T20Is after returning to the 50-over format.

The Men in Blue will now travel to Ireland. New T20I captain Shreyas Iyer will lead his side against Ireland in a two-match series. The two T20Is are going to be held in Belfast on June 26 and June 28.

From here, India will head to England for a white-ball series. From July 1, India will face England in a five-match T20I series. Chester-le-Street, Manchester, Nottingham, Bristol, and Southampton are the venues.

After the conclusion of the T20I series, India will be back playing the 50-over format. The Asian giants will take on the Three Lions in a three-match ODI series. The first, second, and third ODIs will be held in Birmingham, Cardiff, and London, respectively.

'He would have felt a little relieved' - Cheteshwar Pujara explains importance of Rohit Sharma's knock in 3rd ODI vs Afghanistan
"No matter how big a player you are, you need runs, and the way Rohit batted today (Saturday), the rhythm was visible," Cheteshwar Pujara said after India's 3-0 whitewash of Afghanistan.

India whitewashed Afghanistan 3-0 in the three-match ODI series on Saturday, June 20. The final ODI was held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Men in Blue won the match by nine wickets, chasing down a 219-run target in just 28.4 overs.

Rohit Sharma , who had worked very hard at BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) to regain fitness ahead of the series, scored 16 and 48 in the first two ODIs. However, in the third ODI, he enthralled fans with an exemplary batting display. The 39-year-old smashed 79 off just 69 balls, belting nine fours and three sixes. He stitched a 170-run stand with Yashasvi Jaiswal to take India to a position of strength.

Cheteshwar Pujara said that if Rohit had not gotten the runs in the third ODI, it would have built some pressure on him. The cricketer-turned-expert opined that Rohit would be relieved, having returned to form and praised the veteran player for his contributions while fielding.

"No matter how big a player you are, you need runs, and the way Rohit batted today (Saturday), the rhythm was visible. It was necessary for him to score runs. The team management is backing him, but as a player, when you don't score runs, the pressure on you mounts a little," the former India batter said during a discussion on JioHotstar.

"So he would have felt a little relieved that he is back in form. It will be slightly easier for him when he plays his next innings in England, and that wicket will also suit him. He also performed well in fielding. He took three catches. So, overall, it was a good day for him. He can go to England slightly relaxed," he added.

"Can you maintain your consistency when you play only one format?" - Cheteshwar Pujara on Rohit Sharma's place for 2027 ODI World Cup

Pujara said that while Rohit's experience would come in handy for India if he plays the 2027 ODI World Cup, maintaining consistency and fitness will be his biggest challenge in the coming months.

"The experience will definitely be useful, especially since the World Cup will happen in South Africa, and you will need experienced players there. The only question is about the fitness. Can you maintain your consistency when you play only one format? That will be the only question," he said.

Pujara also pointed out how Rohit learned from his mistake in the second ODI and played Rashid Khan much better on Saturday.

"He got out to Rashid Khan in the last match. The good thing in this match was how he rectified it. He wasn't playing him as a leg-spinner but as an off-spinner. He targeted the leg side on most shots and tried to play with the spin because Rashid's strength is not leg spin but the googlies," Pujara elaborated.

The BCCI has announced India's squad for the three-match ODI series against England, which begins on July 14. Shubman Gill will lead the side, while Shreyas Iyer has been named vice-captain. Virat Kohli also returns to the squad, although his participation remains subject to fitness clearance.

The Men in Blue have made only a few changes following the ODI series against Afghanistan. The biggest addition is the return of Jasprit Bumrah, who replaces Prince Yadav in the squad. The pace attack will feature Bumrah alongside Harshit Rana, Gurnoor Brar, Arshdeep Singh, and Prasidh Krishna. The spin department includes Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar, while Nitish Kumar Reddy adds balance as a pace-bowling all-rounder.

Harsh Dubey, who played two matches and claimed four wickets in the Afghanistan series, has not been included in the squad. Meanwhile, Brar earned his place after impressing with his performances and disciplined spells during the Afghanistan tour.

Speaking about Kohli, the veteran batter was ruled out of the ODI series against Afghanistan after suffering a hamstring injury during the IPL 2026 final. However, he is set to undergo a fitness assessment at the BCCI Centre of Excellence on June 22. A successful clearance will make him available for the England ODI series.

Gill enjoyed a successful start to his ODI captaincy, leading India to a 3-0 series sweep over Afghanistan. The young skipper will now look to continue that momentum in England. The upcoming ODI series is expected to play a crucial role in India's preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be hosted by South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.

Before the ODI leg, India will take on England in a five-match T20I series, with Shreyas Iyer leading the side. The squad also features teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and all eyes will be on the 15-year-old prodigy as he looks to make an impact on the international stage.

📢Varun Chakravarthy ruled out of Ireland series due to injury

In a big development, World No. 2 T20I bowler Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of India’s squad for the upcoming two-match T20I series against Ireland in Ireland.

He was originally named in the 15-man squad for this crucial away series, but since he has failed to recover from his toe injury, Chakravarthy has been released from Ireland series. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided a crucial update on his rehab and recovery at the COE, Bengaluru. Meanwhile, they did not name any replacement for him.

“Varun Chakravarthy is in the final stages of his rehab at the BCCI COE following his left foot injury sustained in the TATA IPL 2026. He is ruled out of the T20I series against Ireland,” the statement read.

Since his debut for India in the 2021 T20 World Cup, the mystery spinner from Chennai has been an instrumental figure in India's white ball cricket, winning two ICC trophies, namely ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and T20 World Cup 2026.

The 34-year-old reportedly suffered an injury during Indian Premier League (2026) playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). During a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) when he was struck by a ball, which resulted in hairline fracture in his left toe. Despite the injury, he was seen participating in the league for the three-time IPL champions, which reportedly angered the BCCI, with him being an integral part of India’s white ball plans.

When asked about the issue, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane gave an explanation saying that KKR physios are in touch with the BCCI physios.

“See, our team’s physios and the physios of BCCI and the Indian team, there was a discussion among them. I don’t get involved in that at all. That’s their department. My department is how’s the player’s mindset, does the player want to play or not, how big is the risk?” Rahane was quoted as saying Firstpost.

India’s updated squad for Ireland T20Is:

Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma (Vice-Captain), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Prasidh Krishna

England captain Ben Stokes and fast bowler Gus Atkinson have been withdrawn from their respective County Championship fixtures, strongly indicating that both players are set to return for England's third Test against New Zealand, which begins at Trent Bridge on June 25.

The duo had been made unavailable for the second Test at The Oval while an investigation continued into an alleged breach of England's team curfew following the first Test victory at Lord's. However, both players were cleared to participate in domestic cricket during the ongoing County Championship round.

Stokes represented Durham against Northamptonshire and produced a timely reminder of his class, scoring 95 runs. It was his highest score in any form of cricket since his century against India in the fourth Test last July. Meanwhile, Atkinson turned out for Surrey and impressed with the ball, claiming four wickets in the first innings against Glamorgan.

Despite being initially named in their county sides, both players were withdrawn before the third day of their matches, further strengthening speculation that they will be recalled for the decisive third Test. Reports emerged on Thursday suggesting that Stokes is expected to resume captaincy duties at Trent Bridge, with Atkinson also likely to return to the playing XI.

The investigation into the pair's involvement in a late-night outing following England's win at Lord's remains ongoing. Neither the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) nor team management have officially confirmed the outcome of the inquiry. An official announcement regarding the squad for the third Test is expected only after the conclusion of the ongoing second Test at The Oval.

England have felt the absence of several key players in the second Test. Along with Stokes and Atkinson, Ollie Robinson was unavailable due to injury, while wicketkeeper Jamie Smith missed the match on paternity leave. As a result, England were forced into five changes from the side that won the opening Test and fielded an inexperienced lineup featuring three debutants.

New Zealand have taken full advantage of England's depleted resources and are in a strong position to level the series at 1-1, setting up a potentially thrilling decider at Trent Bridge.

India A’s teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi produced a breathtaking innings in the final against Sri Lanka A, smashing 94 runs off just 28 balls and helping his side post a massive total. The youngster, who had endured a difficult tournament leading up to the summit clash, saved his best performance for the biggest stage and left the cricketing world stunned with his explosive batting display.

Sooryavanshi had struggled for consistency earlier in the series and was also involved in an on-field altercation during a previous match against Sri Lanka A. In that game, India A failed to cross the line in a Super Over, and tensions boiled over after some Sri Lankan players allegedly provoked Sooryavanshi and his batting partner Suryansh Shedge. The incident resulted in the young batter shoving an opponent, drawing criticism from several former cricketers.

Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar had even suggested that Sooryavanshi should have been dropped from the next match against Afghanistan A as a disciplinary measure. Taking to social media, Manjrekar wrote that if he were the India A coach or manager, he would have left the youngster out to send a message that physical confrontations on the field are unacceptable regardless of the provocation.

If I was India A coach or manager I would have left Vaibhav Suryavanshi out for this game v AFG. Only to let him know that’s it’s not OK to get physical on the field. Whatever the provocations.

However, after witnessing Sooryavanshi’s extraordinary innings in the final, Manjrekar was full of praise. He remarked that the left-hander appeared to view 50-over cricket as a format where he could create even more destruction, especially with only two fielders allowed outside the circle during the first 10 overs.

Just realised Vaibhav looks at 50 overs cricket as a format where he can create even more mayhem!

What with 2 fielders outside the circle for 10 overs! & not 6. 😳👏👏👏#SonySports

Sooryavanshi’s knock was historic in more ways than one. He raced to his maiden India A fifty in just 11 deliveries, breaking the previous List A record of a 12-ball fifty set by Kaushalya Weeraratne. His innings featured 10 fours and eight sixes as he dominated the powerplay and put Sri Lanka A under immense pressure from the outset.

India A eventually posted a commanding 377/9 in their 50 overs. Alongside Sooryavanshi’s 94, Tilak Varma contributed 67 runs, while Vipraj Nigam and Anukul Roy added valuable late runs. For Sri Lanka A, Kugathas Mathulan, Ravindu Fernando and Wanuja Sahan picked up two wickets each.

The young opener narrowly missed out on a century and came close to matching the fastest List A hundred record, currently held by Jake Fraser-McGurk, who reached the milestone in just 29 balls in 2023.
