*** Rinnovo CALL per progetto sul sorting per migliorare efficienza DB colonnari

Vi informo della disponibilità di una tesi in collaborazione con una azienda italiana che progetta e realizza DB (sedi a Napoli e Milano), relativamente allo studio, progetto e realizzazione di algoritmi di sorting per memorie gerarchiche e vari tipi di dato, al fine di velocizzare le operazioni di JOIN che coinvolgono più campi. I DB in questione sono utilizzati in vari gruppi bancari ed enti di credito. Si tratta di un tema in linea con il corso di ALE, e con prospettive di sviluppi interessanti anche con algoritmi di Machine Learning per la scelta del miglior algoritmo da applicare in base al tipo e alla distribuzione di dati in input. Sono previste borse di studio. Scrivetemi, se interessati, inviando anche copia di un vostro CV e indicazione degli esami sostenuti/mancanti.

Dear students, the book I announced in class few months ago is out by Cambridge University Press: https://www.cambridge.org/core/books/pearls-of-algorithm-engineering/95061352D7263CCCBD4F243018236EB2. Advertise it, and please limit the distribution of pirated (digital) copies, not just because of my royalties (which are really negligible, and nowadays you do not write such books for them!), but because a large official distribution is the best recognition of the big work that is behind every book, it is an advertisement for our Alma Mater #UniPI, and ultimately of the algorithmic research pursued @Pisa 😉
