🔆Prior Learning (RPL) program
✅Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process used to evaluate a person’s existing skill sets, knowledge and experience gained either by working on-the-job or learning over the years.
✅Ministry : The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship launched Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana in the year 2015.
🔸Recognition of Prior Learning is a component of the PMKVY Scheme.
🔸It is being implemented under the SANKALP Programme.
🔸Implementing agency
The implementing agency for the programme is the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
▪️Significant Features of RPL
✅No fee is charged from a candidate for participating in the RPL program.
✅RPL recognizes the value of learning acquired outside a formal setting and provides a government certificate for an individual’s skills.
✅Every successfully certified candidate receives INR 500.
Candidates receive exposure to concepts of digital and financial literacy.
✅Candidates receive accidental insurance coverage for three years at free of cost.
▪️Aim
✅The objective of this Skill Certification Scheme was to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood.
✅Under this programme the workers will be skilled in multiple trades across construction, electrical, plumbing, pottery, handicrafts and more.
✅To provide opportunities for reducing inequalities based on privileging certain forms of knowledge over others.
