On this day, 18 December 1974, the radical Danish Solvognen theatre group, all dressed as Santas, provoked a near-riot in a Copenhagen department store.
Against a background of an unemployment crisis, groups of Santas went around on roller skates, others attacked state buildings with pitchforks, others visited the elderly in nursing homes and visited children in schools and passed out people's history books.
The events climaxed when the Santa Claus Army entered the Magasin department store on December 18 and began passing out gifts from the store's shelves for free to shoppers, saying "Merry Christmas! Today, no one has to pay".
They justified their actions saying they were returning gifts to the workers who had made them.
When police arrived, they began arresting the Santas, who cried out:“This is bourgeois justice!”.The children who had been watching started crying likely the desired result by the activists, to educate the children on the role of the police in capitalist society.

🔴 Proletarians and Communists

In what relation do the Communists stand to the proletarians as a whole?

The Communists do not form a separate party opposed to the other working-class parties.

They have no interests separate and apart from those of the proletariat as a whole.

They do not set up any sectarian principles of their own, by which to shape and mould the proletarian movement.

The Communists are distinguished from the other working-class parties by this only: 1. In the national struggles of the proletarians of the different countries, they point out and bring to the front the common interests of the entire proletariat, independently of all nationality. 2. In the various stages of development which the struggle of the working class against the bourgeoisie has to pass through, they always and everywhere represent the interests of the movement as a whole.

The Communists, therefore, are on the one hand, practically, the most advanced and resolute section of the working-class parties of every country, that section which pushes forward all others; on the other hand, theoretically, they have over the great mass of the proletariat the advantage of clearly understanding the line of march, the conditions, and the ultimate general results of the proletarian movement.

The immediate aim of the Communists is the same as that of all other proletarian parties: formation of the proletariat into a class, overthrow of the bourgeois supremacy, conquest of political power by the proletariat.

Anti-Nazi partisan Lepa Svetozara Radić from modern-day Bosnia-Herzegovina (former Yugoslavia) was born on this day in 1925. She was executed by the Nazis on February 8, 1943. This photograph (AI-upscaled and colorized) was later found on the body of the German soldier who took it.

Amid a fierce battle, Radić used up all her ammunition.Undeterred, she called on her comrades to fight with their bare hands until overpowered by blows from German rifle butts.

She fought in the 7th Partisan Company of the 2nd Krajina Detachment alongside her sister Dara. On February 8, they were helping refugees, primarily women and children, escape the Nazi 369th and 7th SS Division.

Scheduled for hanging, as the rope was tightened around her neck, her captors offered her a chance at life if she revealed the names of her comrades. Her response was persistent; she was no traitor, and her comrades would reveal themselves when avenging her death.

Canadian media has also demonized pro-Palestinian activists and protesters. In the Globe and Mail, nearly half of the sentences used to describe student protests against Israel’s assault on Gaza were negative, including words like “hateful,” “violent,” and “hostile.” The Toronto Sun and the National Post called the solidarity camps “a threat to humanity’s values” and “a threat to Canada.”

At Global News, a Palestinian Canadian journalist named Zahraa Al-Akhrass was fired for pro-Palestine posts, which the outlet claimed “advocate[d] for violence” and constituted “serious, journalistic bias.” A manager had previously ordered Al-Akhrass to remove posts critical of government officials, as well as posts that contained the hashtags #FreePalestine, #GazaUnderAttack, and #GazaGenocide.

Many mainstream Canadian media organizations have either consciously or implicitly whitewashed Israeli war crimes while demonizing those protesting against them. At the same time, police forces in Canada have brutalized student encampments and solidarity marches, raided the homes of activists, and labelled a significant solidarity organization a “terrorist entity.” What’s more, the International Court of Justice has described genocide accusations as “plausible,” and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant are fugitives from the International Criminal Court.

🔴 Lenin: Loot the Looters

Vladimir Lenin, Advice to Workers and Peasants. 1917
Original Source: Pravda, No. 18, 6 February 1918, p. 3.

You … have before you the very difficult and noble task … of organizing the new economic order in the provinces and of establishing on a firm foundation the power of the Soviets. In doing this you will be helped … by all workers and peasants … who are coming more and more to see that apart from the Soviet Government there is no escape from famine and death …

The bourgeoisie … and the saboteurs are … conspiring against us. They know that they will be completely ruined … if the people succeed in dividing the national wealth which is now in the exclusive possession of the rich …

That is where your function begins. You must organize and consolidate the Soviet power in the villages. You will encounter there the village-bourgeoisie–the kulaks-who will hinder your work in every way. But to fight them will be an easy matter. The masses will be with you …

Make it clear to the peasant that the kulaks and the bloodsuckers must be expropriated in order to bring about a just and equitable distribution of goods … The bourgeoisie are concealing in their coffers the riches which they have plundered, and are saying, “We shall sit tight for a while.” We must catch the plunderers and compel them to return the spoils.

Your chief business will be this: do not let the brigands get away with their riches, otherwise we shall perish …

That Bolshevik was right who in reply to a question whether or not it was true that the Bolsheviks are looters, said, “Yes, we loot the looters.”

On this day, 20 December 1973, the Spanish fascist prime minister, who was hand-picked as dictator Francisco Franco's successor, Luis Carrero Blanco, was assassinated in Madrid.
Basque separatists ETA had spent five months digging a tunnel under a road he went down to attend mass. They then detonated a bomb as he drove over, shooting his car 35 metres into the air and over a five-storey building, earning Carrero Blanco the nickname "Spain's first astronaut".
His successor was unable to hold together different factions of the government, and so this action was credited by some for helping accelerate the restoration of democracy after Franco's death.
People in Spain continue to experience state repression for joking about Carrero Blanco’s death. One young woman was sentenced to a year’s imprisonment in 2017 for a series of tweets, including one asking: “Did Carrero Blanco also go back to the future with his car?”
