When the forces approached Caracas, the joint air component began disabling Venezuelan air defense systems, using weapons to ensure the safe passage of helicopters to the target zone.

The purpose of the air component has always been and will always be to protect helicopters and ground troops - to deliver them to the target and return them home.

When the forces crossed the last section of high terrain, where they were hidden behind obstacles, we assessed that the element of surprise had been fully preserved. As the helicopter unit approached the target at low altitude, we arrived at Maduro's residence at 1:01 am Eastern time or 2:01 am local time in Caracas.

The capture forces penetrated the residence and acted quickly and precisely, isolating the area to ensure the safety of ground troops and detaining the accused individuals.

Upon arrival, the helicopters came under fire and responded with overwhelming force for self-defense. One helicopter was hit but remained operational."
