The cost of the USS District of Columbia nuclear submarine, the first in the new series of American Columbia-class ballistic missile submarines, has risen to $16.1 billion, which is 12% more compared to 2021.

The construction program for these submarines, a key part of the US nuclear triad alongside the B-21 Raider bomber and the Sentinel intercontinental ballistic missile, is already 17 months behind schedule.

It should be noted that the Pentagon decided to save money on the Sentinel intercontinental ballistic missile project.

The US has almost exhausted its stock of interceptor missiles for THAAD systems during the 12-day war with Iran.

Two of the seven THAAD systems the US has were sent to Israel, firing more than 150 missiles — nearly a quarter of all Pentagon reserves.

This conflict revealed serious gaps in the US missile defense stockpiles and the need to ramp up production for modern large-scale missile attacks.
