—Bolsonaro was one of the greatest cowards and negligent figures in Brazil's recent history, second only to Jango. He had all the means to confront the system, but he chose to turn a blind eye, completely surrendering. He promised to fight communism, globalism, radical feminism, and defend conservative values, but in practice, he capitulated to all of these elements.

He promised to arm the population, but ended up merely signing a symbolic, ineffective decree that failed to guarantee the promised freedom. As Renato Amoedo aptly put it: "Xandão armed more Brazilians by allowing municipal guards to carry firearms than Bolsonaro, who merely increased the cost and taxes on weapons." Instead of empowering the population, he left it even more vulnerable.

Bolsonaro betrayed his supporters—deceived those who trusted him—and also disappointed his military colleagues, retreating in the face of the rise of the left, feminism, and the degeneration of the values he claimed to defend. He didn't even honor the memory of those who gave their lives for freedom in World War II.

If you still believe in Bolsonaro, review his 2017 positions and compare them with his actual actions in office. A glaring example is his promise to institute chemical castration for rapists—an agenda he himself abandoned for fear of reprisals.

The truth is that neither Lula nor Bolsonaro are the solution for Brazil. The solution doesn't lie with politicians: it lies with the people. And an unarmed people have no way to fight back. The current government has extinguished any possibility of legitimate reaction. Perhaps we should take inspiration from figures like the protagonist of the film The Patriot—who, faced with tyranny, didn't wait for orders: he fought.
