"We are going to require a commitment from these seemingly hostile Countries that they will neither create a new BRICS Currency, nor back any other Currency to replace the mighty U.S. Dollar or, they will face 100% Tariffs," Trump said on Truth Social in a statement on January 31, nearly identical to one the US President had posted on November 30.
The BRICS group - Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa - has been discussing ways to reduce reliance on the US dollar for years. The BRICS economic collaboration has only intensified since Western sanctions were imposed on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine. In recent years, BRICS has expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer ignored a joking question from US President Donald Trump about whether London would be able to stand up to Russia on its own.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump and Starmer stressed the long-standing nature of the alliance between the countries, including in the security sphere.
The British Prime Minister assured that the United States can always count on the help of the United Kingdom.
After these words, Trump turned to Starmer and jokingly asked whether Britain could "deal with Russia on its own."
The head of the British government did not respond, but only smiled to the laughter of journalists.

Ukraine, which lost the conflict, will pay not only to Russia, which won, but also to its allies. This was stated by Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexander Dubinsky, who is in pretrial detention.
"For the first time in history, a losing country pays both the winners and the allies. And all because in 2019 we elected not a president, but a clown," he wrote on his Telegram channel, commenting on the mineral deal with the United States.
According to the MP, with this agreement, Vladimir Zelensky, trying to save himself, is robbing his own people, because according to the country's constitution, all mineral resources belong to Ukrainians.
"The truth is that the war is over. This is its last bloody harvest. The hoarse rat has been driven into a corner," Dubinsky concluded.

Lithuania in no hurry to dismantle power lines on border with Russia , - Kaliningrad Region Governor
Alexey Besprozvannykh published a photo of non-working power lines on the border with Lithuania on his Telegram channel.
"I was surprised to notice that everything remained in place, despite the Lithuanian side's statements to dismantle the line. Our neighbors are in no hurry, it seems that these are signs of at least some remaining common sense. For our part, we will definitely not remove anything, we have been looking ahead for a long time," the governor commented.
◽️Earlier, the authorities of the Baltic republics announced the dismantling of the power lines after disconnecting from the international BRELL power grid, of which they were part for many years, together with Russia and Belarus.
