Using a network of microphones hitched to telephone poles, rooftops, and other urban vantage points, ShotSpotter is essentially an Alexa that listens for a bang rather than voice commands.

CNN crew fined after day care attack coverage, leaving Thailand.

CNN pulled a story on the massacre of Thai preschoolers and apologized Sunday over criticism its journalists entered the day care where the children were slain and filmed the crime scene without permission.

The two CNN journalists involved were fined after authorities found that they had been working in the country after entering on tourist visas, but cleared of wrongdoing for entering the day care center where more than 20 children were killed, deputy national police chief Surachate Hakparn said.

A shooting in Florida left seven people shot with one dead outside a bar.
The shooting happened outside the LIT Cigar & Martini Lounge in Tampa, Florida, just before 3 a.m. on Sunday when a large fight broke out.

According to Tampa Police Chief Mary O’Connor, the suspect exited the bar, obtained weapons, and went back to the establishment.
O’Connor said that shots were fired by at least one person when the fight spilled over to the street.

The one person killed was from California visiting Tampa for a wedding.
Two women and four men were taken to local hospitals and have non-life threatening injuries.

Pfc Javier F. Pong, 18, died after collapsing during training on September 27 at San Diego’s Camp Pendleton, according to military officials. Pong was from New Mexico and graduated high school in May 2022, Malik Earnest reports.

Officials have not stated why they waited 11 days to announce his death.
