Women in Iran have begun to protest after Masha Amini, a 22 year old Kurdish woman was killed for not wearing her veil correctly.

What these brave women are doing is extremely risky. They could likely die for this & yet they do it. That’s how much this matters to them.
My heart goes out to all of them.

A friend of mine is from Iran.
His own wife's mother tried to turn their family in for practicing Christianity, causing them to flee to turkey for their life until they ultimately made it to America safely with their son & daughter. He's now an airline pilot.

People forget how easy we truly have it in our country & take so many freedoms for granted, that we're born with.

Today’s News: Former welfare agency director John Davis set to plead guilty on Thursday to two federal charges and 18 state counts of fraud or conspiracy related to his role in the Mississippi welfare scandal, according to separate federal and state court filings.
The State Auditor’s Office accused Davis of funneling $70 million in federal funds away from the needy 2016-2020. Prosecutors charged Davis criminally for just a few instances of the actual fraud. He defrauded “the state by paying his close associate, former pro-wrestler Brett DiBiase, for work he didn’t conduct and conspiring with nonprofit founder Nancy New to use embezzled welfare funds to send DiBiase to rehab.”
In addition he used money meant for poor families on “a million-dollar promotional gig for Brett Favre, a new $5 million volleyball stadium, $2 million in personal investments in a pharmaceutical startup, a horse ranch for Marcus Dupree, and more”
The judge assigned in the case was a former colleague of Davis’ at the childrens’ protective services and during his tenure there, the agency was plagued by budget shortfalls and threats of takeover from the federal government. CPS failed, year after year, to comply with the terms of a court settlement in a long-running federal lawsuit. The 2004 complaint accused Mississippi of failing to protect children in its custody. The plaintiffs maintain that foster children continue to be abused and neglected as recently as 2019, according to media reports.

Then- Republican Gov. Phil Bryant appointed Davis as welfare director in January of 2016 and Dickenson as the head of CPS in September of 2017.

Right before the verdict was read, Dooley allegedly sent a text message to his attorney stating that he had left the courthouse, which is a violation of the judge's order to not leave the courthouse. He's been on the run ever since.

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami said on Sunday that it stopped accepting new patients to its gender program, and several pediatric clinics have either followed suit or have ceased prescribing puberty blockers and hormones for children, said Michael Haller, chief of pediatric endocrinology at the University of Florida.
“This is another example of politics interfering with the inviolability of the doctor-patient relationship,” Haller told the Tampa Bay Times in an email. “I expect to see additional situations in which patients are forced to seek care outside of our state.”

It’s unclear how many children in Florida receive treatment for gender dysphoria. A report from the Agency for Health Care Administration shows Medicaid funding in 2021 paid for a dozen children to have surgery, 346, children to be treated with male hormones and 151 children to get female hormones.

Johns Hopkins Medicine continues to support all children, including transgender youth who have high risks of depression, anxiety and suicide,” spokesperson Danielle Caci told the Times in an email. “We support the American Academy of Pediatrics statement that all children should have access to evidence-based gender-affirming care at developmentally appropriate ages in order to reduce gender dysphoria and improve mental health.”
