"2 U.S.C. § 1979 states that 'any Member … of either House of Congress' can 'obtain information from the Capitol Police regarding the operations and activities of the Capitol Police that affect the Senate and House of Representatives.' Subsection (c) makes clear that nothing in that law may be construed to prevent us, as Members of the House, from obtaining those videos."

Gohmert concluded that "Releasing this information is absolutely essential to proper governance and truth to protect and perpetuate this self, governing nation."

You vote on a touch screen and the BMD prints out a ballot that shows who you voted for, in plain English. But wait. All of that information is summarized in a QR Code.

The QR code is what is actually tabulated and you have no way to know what the QR code says.

Does it reflect your vote?
Is there “extra” information in the QR code that compromises your identity?
Has the BMD been hacked so that the QR code is fraudulent?

Didn’t the technologists promise to figure it out THIS TIME with the latest wave of tax payer spending?

Ballot-Marking Devices (BMDs) Cannot Assure the Will of the Voters
Says Princeton, Berkley and Georgia Tech in 2019

This is an outstanding white paper. While I don’t agree 100% with using a precinct level optical counter for hand marked ballots, there is much in this paper that is on the mark. It is a very serious piece.

To Quote: “Hand-marked paper ballot systems are the only practical technology for contestable, strongly defensible voting systems.”
“If it is possible that error, hacking, bugs, or miscalibration caused the recorded-on-paper votes (from a BMD) to differ from the expressed votes, an RLA or even a full hand recount cannot not provide convincing public evidence that election outcomes are correct: such a system cannot be defensible. In short, paper ballots provide little assurance against hacking if they are never examined or if the paper might not accurately reflect the votes expressed by the voters.”

This is a seminal work filed with the NIST I stumbled into.

It deserves to be given the light of day again. I have read portions of it and it is a fascinating time capsule. You can read the “Vote Counting” chapter first for example. I will be posting some quotes in the future from the publication as I work through it.

Why bother reading this you might be saying? Let's not be naive. If we are going to recommend a return to a hand count, we cannot repeat mistakes from the past. It is easy fodder for those who do not want to count by hand.

Let’s solve that problem before it occurs.

In the category of "you literally can't make this up"-

On a flight from PHX to DFW, I am seated next to an American Airlines flight attendant who is in uniform, flying standby. We wound up in conversation discussing the midterms in Texas, and she was asking my thoughts on various races. She figured out quickly where my beliefs stand, and I found out she considers herself a moderate Democrat - though she espouses the standard CNN-endorsed viewpoints, and believes Tarrant County indeed went blue, as did Arizona, and Trump didn't lose due to fraud.

Nice lady, respectful conversation. She wound up telling me that she ran for president of the flight attendant union for American Airlines... and lost by 200 votes out of the entire fleet, a very narrow margin.

I said, "election fraud," as a good natured barb.

And she goes, "Yes," and started ranting on about MAIL BALLOTS, corrupted ballot images, faulty tabulation equipment, and how her administrative canvass of the voter roll revealed a fraudulent election.

I cackled like a villain, could barely believe what I was hearing - and yes, ladies and gentleman, El Capitan just completed an impromptu seminar highlighting the perils of electile dysfunction with a liberal flight attendant.
