BREAKING! A retired MPD Lieutenant was arrested and charged Friday after fatally shooting a library special police officer during an ASP baton training session at the Anacostia Library Thursday afternoon, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Special police officer, Maurica Manyan, 25, was shot during the training session conducted by the retired MPD officer, police said.

Officers were called to the library for the reported shooting a little after 3:30 p.m., police said. When officers entered the library, they found Manyan unconscious and with a gunshot wound.

D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported Manyan to an area hospital. She was later pronounced dead.

Columbia, SC: Sheriff Leon Lott says deputies with Richland County Sheriff’s Department were ambushed with gunfire at around 5:30 a.m. this morning.

The ambush took place at Carriage Oaks subdivision in Northeast Columbia.

Deputies were called to the neighborhood over a possible domestic dispute. But when deputies arrived to the home, the homeowners told deputies they had no dispute and didn’t call the police.

As deputies left the home, more than fifteen shots were fired from an assault rifle in their direction–striking the deputies’ vehicles.

“There’s people in our community, and there are people throughout the United States for some reason, that just don’t like individuals who wear this badge. I don’t know why, but they shoot at cops and they take the lives of cops. And we’re lucky we didn’t lose one this morning,” says Sheriff Lott.

Orange Beach, Alabama:  For the second time this summer in Orange Beach, fentanyl has been discovered inside a folded one-dollar bill that had been dropped on the ground. This time it happened at the police department.

A security camera outside the Orange Beach Police Department captures a woman, identified as Sarah Dailey from Foley, leaving Sunday morning when something falls to the ground.

“She drops a wrapped-up dollar bill about so big. The officer that actually found it said it looked like origami with the dollar bill right there in the grass in front of the police department,” says Lt. Trent Johnson.

The dollar bill lay in the grass for about ten hours before an officer spotted it.
