NEW — Former Louisiana Democratic Party leader Sen. Karen Carter Peterson pleaded guilty on Monday to a federal wire fraud charge.
Documents filed Monday outlined a scheme in which she diverted more than $94,000 in campaign funds for personal use, including for casino gambling. Prosecutors said she also arranged for another $53,000 in state Democratic Party funds to be kicked back to her by associates she arranged to be hired by the party. (AP)

Tampa, Florida: Three people used hammers to rob a jewelry store at Citrus Park Mall on Tuesday afternoon.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is looking for the trio who robbed the Diamond Galleria at Citrus Park Mall just after 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The sheriff's office said the thieves dressed in all black and used hammers to smash open the display cases to steal high-end watches.
