[Foundation hack exposed 21,463 customer emails in phishing campaign]

Bitcoin hardware wallet maker Foundation disclosed details of a system breach that exposed customer information after hackers exploited vulnerabilities in its self-hosted Cal.com booking system and Bank-Vaults to steal credentials and access customer data and the company’s email system.

The attack began on Oct. 21, and the hackers tried to send more than 23,000 phishing emails through Foundation’s official email address on Oct. 25, targeting 21,463 email addresses. The exposed data included customer names, addresses, phone numbers, order histories and partial payment card information. The hackers later used the stolen customer data in phone scams seeking victims’ Bitcoin seed recovery phrases.

Foundation said employee accounts and devices were not compromised and assets stored in its Passport hardware wallet remain safe. The company added it plans to reduce its use of self-hosted servers and shift to externally managed services.

[U.S. DOL sends 401(k) alternative asset rule to White House review]

A final U.S. Labor Department rule that would open the door to adding Bitcoin, other digital assets, private equity and real estate as investment options in 401(k) plans has entered White House review, Bloomberg Law reported today.

According to Bloomberg Law, the U.S. Department of Labor formally submitted its final "Safe Harbor" rule on fiduciary liability to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, or OIRA. The measure would reduce trustees' litigation risk when adding alternative assets to retirement plans. OIRA review is typically the final stage of the rulemaking process and signals publication in the Federal Register could be near within weeks.

Under the rule, legal protection would be available if pension managers, or fiduciaries, meet six requirements tied to performance, fees, liquidity, valuation, benchmarks and complexity. The change is expected to significantly lower lawsuit risk tied to adding alternative assets, broadening flexibility for retirement plan providers that had previously avoided crypto and private-market assets under the Labor Department's conservative guidance.

[BTC could reach $120K-$150K by end-2027 if liquidity improves: analyst]

Bitcoin could rise to $120,000-$150,000 by the end of 2027 if liquidity conditions improve and sustained institutional demand returns, Utkarsh Ahuja, founder and managing partner at crypto-focused investment firm Moon Pursuit Capital, said in an interview with Crypto Briefing.

Ahuja said the market is currently unstable and described the rally on Nov. 4 as a mix of relief buying, short covering and improving sentiment as political uncertainty after the election eased somewhat. But on Nov. 5, selling pressure reemerged across crypto and broader financial markets, quickly reversing the rebound, Ahuja said. He added the market had likely already priced in to some extent the possibility of a Democratic Party victory and cautioned against interpreting either the rally or the subsequent decline as a direct result of the election outcome. With rate expectations and overall risk appetite still unsettled, additional weakness could emerge in November, according to Ahuja.
