[Bitcoin Core developer proposes 'Quantum Landmines' to deter quantum-enabled BTC theft]
Bitcoin Core developer Cory Fields has proposed a technique called 'Quantum Landmines' to prevent Bitcoin theft using quantum computers, CoinDesk reported.
Under the proposal, a hacker trying to use a quantum computer to steal BTC by uncovering a vulnerable wallet’s private key would have to post BTC collateral equal to the amount targeted for theft. The funds would then be locked for around 30 days. During that period, if the original owner submits pre-arranged proof of ownership, the owner could recover both the BTC and the collateral posted by the hacker. A hacker would not be able to know in advance which wallets have the mechanism enabled.
