[Democrats seen gaining Senate seats and taking House in U.S. midterms]

Democrats were increasingly likely to secure an edge in both the Senate and the House in the U.S. midterm elections, CNN reported. Democrats had won 50 Senate seats, while Republicans secured 37, leaving Democrats with a net gain of five seats from the previous makeup.

Democrats were also leading in the House. Of the 234 seats decided as of the report, Democrats won 141, ahead of the Republicans' 93. If Democrats secure majorities in both chambers, the party would regain control of Congress for the first time in four years.

President Donald Trump said he would accept the midterm election results and was willing to work with Democrats.

[Democrats win both chambers of Congress, likely reshaping crypto legislation]

The Defiant said the U.S. Democratic Party’s midterm election victory has given it control of both chambers of Congress, making an impact on crypto-related policy under the Trump administration unavoidable. The outlet said leadership of the House Financial Services Committee and the House Agriculture Committee, which have handled the CLARITY Act, will shift to Democrats, likely giving the party greater influence over future legislation and oversight of the president’s crypto-related business activities.

It added that the CLARITY Act remains pending before the full Senate, and even if Democrats gain influence over the Senate schedule, the threshold needed to invoke cloture remains unchanged. If the bill does not pass during the current congressional term, it will have to be reintroduced and move through the process again from the beginning.
