[Binance hacker launders first stolen funds with $2.2M in BTC, Elliptic says]
The Binance hacker laundered 28 BTC worth $2.2 million through the CoinJoin cryptocurrency mixing protocol, according to blockchain analytics firm Elliptic. The review covered the period from Nov. 1 through 6:02 a.m. UTC today, and the laundering technique used the WabiSabi protocol, a mixing technology used by services including Wasabi Wallet.
Elliptic said the BTC sent into CoinJoin first came from stolen TRX funds, followed by ETH that had been swapped into BTC. The 18,270 BTC stolen directly from Binance remains unmoved and split across 19 addresses.
Elliptic said about $3.24 billion of the total $6.43 billion stolen remains in the hacker’s possession, while $2.85 billion has been frozen, seized, or otherwise handled.

[Israeli crypto industry warns Netanyahu sanctions-evasion remarks may hurt credibility]
Concerns are rising in Israel’s crypto industry after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proposed using cryptocurrencies as a workaround in case of international financial sanctions, Bitcoin News reported. Addressable CEO Tomer Sharoni and ORBS CEO Ran Hammer said Netanyahu’s remarks could prompt offshore exchanges and banks to tighten scrutiny of Israeli crypto companies, hurting the credibility of the local Web3 industry.
Sharoni urged the Bank of Israel, securities regulators and capital market authorities to jointly introduce a regulatory sandbox and establish a licensing framework for virtual asset service providers, or VASPs, in line with the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation, or MiCA, and the Financial Action Task Force’s travel rule. Netanyahu had earlier said an alternative economy was needed in case Israel faced banking sanctions, while citing blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies as viable alternatives.

[XRPL bug fix separating token burn and mint powers could go live on Nov. 4]
XRP Ledger is expected to fix a flaw on Nov. 4 that allowed accounts with only token-burning authority to mint new tokens, CoinDesk reported. Under the previous structure, when a stablecoin issuer granted a payment service the authority to burn tokens, that service could also create tokens without separate minting authority, but the update would separate those permissions.
The change would not affect XRP supply. Governance backing for the fix currently stands at 33 of 35 validators, and activation requires at least 29 validators to maintain support for two weeks. If that backing holds, the earliest activation time is 2:46 p.m. UTC on Nov. 4.

[Binance hackers made repeated errors handling stolen funds, losing millions]
North Korean hackers made a string of mistakes while handling funds stolen in the Binance hack, according to ai_9684xtpa. The hackers transferred multiple tokens worth $3.5 million to a NEWT contract address and sold $5 million worth of PROM without checking the liquidity pool size, recovering just $71. ai_9684xtpa also raised the possibility that the use of MetaMask to pay gas fees left records of off-chain activity, including IP addresses. Separately, $250,000 was transferred to Gate, which is said to have frozen two related accounts and plans to cooperate with follow-up investigations. The analysis said the involvement of multiple personnel in handling various types of tokens could make it easier to leave tracking clues, potentially aiding Binance’s fund-tracing efforts.
