[WEF, BCG say digital asset regulation is expanding beyond crypto]

Digital asset regulation is expanding beyond traditional cryptocurrencies into areas such as tokenization, according to a report from the World Economic Forum and Boston Consulting Group.

The report said digital assets are affecting money transfers, financial market functions and countries’ monetary sovereignty, and added that tokenization and digital money, including stablecoins and programmable payment instruments, could have a bigger impact than Bitcoin on how governments establish legal frameworks. It said cryptocurrencies such as BTC, ETH and SOL still dominate the market, with a combined market capitalization of about $3 trillion. While that remains substantial, the report said digital money and tokenization technology could have a greater long-term impact.

It also identified legal clarity, custody asset protection, financial crime prevention, monetary sovereignty, capital flows, sanctions compliance and financial system competitiveness as key policy tasks, while stressing that countries need to adjust existing regulations to keep pace with technological change.

[DigitalX says tokenized stock market grew 5x in a year, calls for South Korea rules]

DigitalX, Mirae Asset’s digital-asset investment platform, said in a report on tokenized stocks that South Korea needs to update its regulatory framework to account for such trading, as cases of overseas trading in tokenized shares of South Korean companies including SK Hynix are already increasing.

According to Etoday, the report said the value of tokenized stocks circulating on blockchains stood at $3.58 billion as of Oct. 23, up 5.3 times from the start of the year. It added that while related rulemaking is under way in South Korea, tokenized stocks issued overseas remain outside the scope of regulation. The report also warned that unless infrastructure is put in place to issue tokenized stocks domestically, trading in tokenized versions of South Korean stocks could take hold first outside the reach of domestic rules.

[12.7K BTC net outflow from exchanges in a day may ease selling pressure]

Bitcoin’s net outflow from exchanges resumed, pointing to a possible improvement in supply and demand conditions, although a neutral view is still warranted for now, CryptoQuant contributor CoinNiel said.

Citing data from Oct. 27, local time, CoinNiel said 12,702 BTC posted a net outflow from major exchanges, reversing from a net inflow of 7,278 BTC a day earlier. Over the past seven and 30 days, cumulative net outflows totaled 4,633 BTC and 4,048 BTC, respectively, although four of the past seven days still showed net inflows. Funding rates stood at 0.00762%, above the seven-day average of 0.00637%, while open interest rose 0.56% over the past week to $25.6 billion. Bitcoin LTH SOPR, a measure of short-term profit and loss for long-term holders, fell from 1.1657 to 1.0124, moving closer to break-even.

CoinNiel said whether exchange net outflows continue will be key, adding that continued outflows could be seen as a positive signal if funding rates and open interest do not rise sharply.
