[The Block sees tougher U.S. crypto oversight after midterm elections]
The Block said a week before the U.S. midterm elections that the congressional approach to crypto policy could shift from legislative support to tighter oversight depending on the outcome. The outlet said the next Congress may step up oversight of the crypto industry while reviving the Clarity Act in a scaled-down form.
The Block said the Republican-led Congress over the past two years passed the stablecoin bill GENIUS Act and pushed to enact the Clarity Act, but the measure ultimately failed to clear the Senate. The outlet added that disputes between the banking sector and the crypto industry over stablecoin interest payments, along with conflict-of-interest concerns surrounding President Donald Trump’s crypto businesses, were key obstacles. It also said opposition within the Democratic Party grew as the value of Trump-linked assets tied to World Liberty Financial (WLFI) and the TRUMP memecoin reached hundreds of millions of dollars.

[Royales extends investor, team RLS vesting; unlocks to start in May 2027]
Royales, a layer-1 blockchain focused on RWA for institutions, said it has extended the vesting period for RLS allocated to investors and the team. The token unlock schedule, which had originally been planned for December 2026, was changed so releases will begin in May 2027 and continue monthly over four years.
Royales said that, combined with Parfin’s lockup extension announced in August and this latest change, RLS circulating supply through 2027 will be about 1.2 billion RLS, or around 25%, lower than originally planned. More than 500 million RLS is set to remain locked in December 2026.

[CFTC chairman says AI, crypto and financial infrastructure could transform markets]
U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Mike Selig said the convergence of SI, or superintelligence, AI, cryptocurrency and modern financial infrastructure could transform markets.
Speaking at a forum hosted by the CFTC’s innovation task force, Selig described the technology as being as tangible as the printing press, the steam engine and the internet. He also warned that if SI agents engage in malicious activity, it could be difficult to identify who is behind a trade. As a result, Selig said regulators need to think carefully about how to regulate wisely in the age of superintelligence, adding that the CFTC is well positioned because it has already faced similar issues in the crypto market.

[WEF, BCG say digital asset regulation is expanding beyond crypto]
Digital asset regulation is expanding beyond traditional cryptocurrencies into areas such as tokenization, according to a report from the World Economic Forum and Boston Consulting Group.
The report said digital assets are affecting money transfers, financial market functions and countries’ monetary sovereignty, and added that tokenization and digital money, including stablecoins and programmable payment instruments, could have a bigger impact than Bitcoin on how governments establish legal frameworks. It said cryptocurrencies such as BTC, ETH and SOL still dominate the market, with a combined market capitalization of about $3 trillion. While that remains substantial, the report said digital money and tokenization technology could have a greater long-term impact.
It also identified legal clarity, custody asset protection, financial crime prevention, monetary sovereignty, capital flows, sanctions compliance and financial system competitiveness as key policy tasks, while stressing that countries need to adjust existing regulations to keep pace with technological change.
