[Winklevoss twins see ZEC topping $5K over next 5-10 years]

Gemini co-founders Cameron Winklevoss and Tyler Winklevoss see ZEC as potentially rising above $5,000 over the next five to 10 years, BlockBeats reported. In a recent interview, the brothers said Bitcoin uses a blockchain structure in which all transaction records are public, providing transparency and verifiability but limiting privacy features, while Zcash supports private transaction data and could complement Bitcoin by addressing that limitation.

[$83K seen as key pivot for BTC’s next move]

On-chain analyst Murphy said on X that $83,000 is a key inflection point that could determine BTC’s next price direction.

According to a Glassnode chart Murphy shared, around 921,000 BTC had their last on-chain movement near the $83,000 level as of today. Murphy said when BTC fell below $83,000 on Oct. 8, the $79,000-$82,000 range had previously seen relatively light trading volume, so Murphy expected BTC to spend time in that band as trading activity increased. Murphy added that on-chain movement later picked up in that range, leading to a concentration of supply there. With BTC no longer falling further, Murphy said a renewed rise is possible, and a new trend will likely form depending on whether buying or selling pressure gains the upper hand at $83,000.

Murphy added that the supply clustered near $83,000 includes 550,000 BTC generated during a past Coinbase wallet reorganization, and Murphy estimated only 100,000 to 200,000 BTC of that amount remains.

[$83K seen as key level for Bitcoin’s next move: Murphy]

On-chain analyst Murphy said on X that $83,000 is a key inflection point that could determine Bitcoin’s next price direction.

According to a Glassnode chart Murphy shared, about 921,000 BTC had their last on-chain movement around the $83,000 level as of Oct. 22. Murphy said that when BTC fell below $83,000 on Oct. 8, the $79,000-$82,000 range had previously seen relatively weak trading volume, leading to an expectation that Bitcoin would spend time in that band and build more trading activity there. Murphy added that on-chain movement later increased in that range and holdings became concentrated there. With BTC not falling further now, Murphy said another upward move is possible, while adding that a new trend will form depending on whether buyers or sellers take the upper hand at $83,000.

Murphy noted, however, that the supply near $83,000 includes 550,000 BTC generated during a past Coinbase wallet reorganization process, and estimated that only 100,000 to 200,000 BTC of that amount may still remain.

[Ripple, BCG say financial institutions are boosting crypto custody investment]

Financial institutions are sharply increasing investment in cryptocurrency custody, viewing it as a core operational layer rather than simple safekeeping, according to a joint report from Ripple and Boston Consulting Group. The report said more than 30% of crypto assets, excluding exchange-held assets, are now being custodied through institutional models, and that share is continuing to rise amid stronger demand.

Ripple and BCG attributed the trend to regulatory developments including MiCA and the GENIUS Act. BCG said local banks could improve revenue by as much as $100 million if they decide to enter custody, while firms including Morgan Stanley, Citi and BNY are also strengthening their in-house custody capabilities.

[Advances in artificial gold production may highlight Bitcoin scarcity]

U.Today reported that U.S. market analyst Jesse Eckel said advances in artificial gold production technology could make Bitcoin’s scarcity a stronger competitive advantage than gold’s.

In a post on X, Eckel said artificially produced gold could eventually become cheaper, much like synthetic diamonds, and technological progress may weaken gold’s scarcity over the long term. Eckel added that San Francisco-based startup Marathon Fusion has made technical progress in converting mercury into gold. As the technology develops, gold supply could increase, while Bitcoin’s total supply remains mathematically capped, which Eckel said could strengthen Bitcoin’s scarcity advantage over the long run.

[Lawmaker Han Dong-hoon calls for crypto tax delay, two-step legislation]

Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon called for a delay to virtual asset taxation and a second phase of legislation, arguing that taxing only virtual assets after the abolition of the financial investment income tax on gains from stocks and bonds would seriously undermine fairness, according to Kukinews.

In a Facebook post, Han said the current tax plan could unfairly burden investors because it lacks measures to offset losses and remains exposed to tax avoidance through gifts. Han added that the next step should be to use second-phase virtual asset legislation to clearly define coin categories and the nature of related income, while first putting in place an environment that can properly protect investors.

[Bithumb, FIU clash in court over sub-$1K crypto withdrawals]

South Korea’s financial authorities and crypto exchange Bithumb clashed in court over a six-month partial business suspension imposed on the exchange, Hankyung reported.

On Oct. 22, the Seoul Administrative Court’s Second Administrative Division held the first hearing in Bithumb’s suit seeking to overturn a partial business suspension ordered by South Korea’s Financial Intelligence Unit, or FIU. The two sides disputed whether exchanges were required to verify counterpart exchanges for virtual-asset withdrawals under 1 million won and whether Bithumb knowingly left illegal transactions unchecked. Bithumb argued it had no duty to verify the receiving exchange for small withdrawals, making it difficult to fully block illicit transactions. The FIU countered Bithumb knew of its obligation to ban transactions with unregistered overseas exchanges and still failed to take the necessary blocking measures, amounting to intent or gross negligence.
