[Multicoin Capital says it has no plans to invest in pure AI projects]

Multicoin Capital said it plans to stay focused on cryptocurrency rather than expand into AI projects, according to Bloomberg. Spencer Applebaum, a general partner at Multicoin and co-head of its venture capital unit, said some crypto investment firms including Paradigm, Framework Ventures and Haun Ventures are broadening their investment scope into areas such as AI, but Multicoin plans to maintain its existing specialization.

Applebaum also said HYPE remains the largest position in Multicoin’s hedge fund. The firm currently has $2.7 billion in assets under management.

Bloomberg reported that Multicoin’s $422 million venture capital fund, raised in 2022, has deployed capital slowly after the FTX collapse drove down startup valuations.

[Kaiko says BTC leverage down 20% since October washout, spot liquidity off 27%]

Bitcoin market leverage has declined since the $19 billion crypto liquidation event in October last year, but spot liquidity has yet to recover, according to crypto market data firm Kaiko.

BTC open interest in perpetual futures was down about 16% in BTC terms from before the Oct. 10, 2025 liquidation event. The leverage-to-market-depth ratio fell to around 55x from an average of 73.5x before the event, remaining about 20% lower. Kaiko said lower leverage reduces the risk of short-term cascading liquidations, while thinner liquidity has also reduced the market’s capacity to absorb large orders, leaving prices still vulnerable to volatility.

[Latvia passes crypto tax overhaul to ease transfer-related tax burden]

Latvia’s parliament has passed a bill to change how cryptocurrency is taxed and introduce a special disclosure program for previously held assets, NewsBTC reported.

Under the new tax framework, transfers between cryptocurrencies within an account will not automatically trigger taxation, and tax will apply only when withdrawals from the account exceed cumulative deposits. Investors, however, must keep records that can verify deposit and withdrawal histories. The bill also creates a one-time disclosure program for investors who have difficulty confirming the acquisition cost of cryptocurrencies bought in the past. Eligible holders can formally declare existing assets by paying 10% of the value of holdings as of the end of this year.

[Richard Byworth sees weaker BTC selling pressure, says $350K possible within a year]

Hedge fund structuring specialist Richard Byworth said Bitcoin’s selling pressure has eased sharply and could help the asset reach a new all-time high before year-end, with a potential move to $350,000 within about a year, according to an interview with Bitcoin Magazine.

Byworth said the current level of BTC sell-side exhaustion had reached an all-time high. While the market has not shown extreme bearish sentiment, Byworth said multiple on-chain indicators point to a clear bottoming signal. With BTC trading slightly above $80,000 in recent weeks, Byworth said a bottom had formed at $58,000. Byworth also said Strive bought an amount of BTC in a single transaction over the past week equal to three times the weekly volume of newly issued BTC, adding the next rally was only a matter of time.

[Nine big tech firms oppose stock token listings on OKX-ICE platform]

Nine major listed companies, including Broadcom, Verizon, UnitedHealth and CoreWeave, have formally exercised their right to reject stock token listings through OKXICE, a joint platform formed by OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, the parent of the New York Stock Exchange.

Under the U.S. SEC’s innovation exemption framework dated Sept. 17, third-party platforms must notify issuers in advance before tokenizing and listing shares, and issuers have 30 days to object to the listing. The specific reasons for the objections were not disclosed, though the move was seen as reflecting concerns over shareholder protection and distribution control. Despite on-chain RWA and stablecoin assets surging to $320 billion, tensions over leadership in tokenized stocks between major traditional financial firms and listed companies are expected to persist for the time being.

Hyperliquid’s think tank, the Hyperliquid Policy Center, urged the U.S. SEC to introduce a new Regulation Crypto Assets framework and provide more specific safe harbor rules for airdrops. The group argued current safe harbor conditions are overly stringent, leaving many decentralized projects unable to qualify.

It also said the SEC should correct what it described as a mistaken interpretation that administrative steps investors take to receive airdrops, including wallet linking and claims procedures, constitute monetary consideration, which then serves as a basis for determining whether a token is a security.
